This weekend my new car finally arrives and it's time for the CLK to go back. My tenure with it has been a bit of a roller coaster ride and many of the problems I have had have been well documented on this forum. So it's time to say goodbye to the Merc - and goodbye to the forum. I am on too many car forums and as I cannot claim to be a Mercedes enthusiast there seems little point in staying here when I have no liking for the brand.

Please don't think I am here to bash it though, it was a duff car in many ways and just wasn't for me. I want to thank all of the members on here for your help and company over the last couple of years and I wish you the very best of luck with your cars and hope that Merceds continues to give you the sort of cars you like.

Here's the final picture of my baby and I have to admit to a few pangs as it goes, a top down ride through the country on a recent sunny evening showed how it should have been. Here she is, a beauty but a heartbreaker (my contribution to the number plate thread as well :D )

Good luck from here too :D . You must show us some pics of your new vehicle though, especially if you really do feel the need to depart this forum totally. :D

Good Luck and Take Care, A nice parting gift to the numbers collection, :)

May your next car give you pleasures were the CLK failed.

Sad sad day... good luck with your new motor

Thanks for the good wishes folks, I will pop my head round the door occasionally to see what's going on. No the plate isn't for sale, it'll be mine 'til my dying day :D

As for it's replacement, I think the new avatar may give it away ;) It arrives tomorrow and I'll post photos as soon as I can be prised out of it

Cheers
Andy

Had a test drive in one the other day; absolutely-bleedin-fantastic :D . Think I scared the salesman though

Brought back memories of my MkII 16v. Superb chassis, astounding brakes, brilliant engine ... nice one

Only driven it for 30 miles but so far it just blows me away :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

Nice car......Enjoy your new car, it looks fully loaded, I am sure its fun to drive.

But dont compare your old car with the new one because they are simply not targeted at the same buyer market. You must be a DRIVER rather than a prestige owner, that is why you could move from a Merc CLK to VW Golf GTI.

Best of Luck and Best Wishes

Very nice, those wheels would look rather nice on my diesel version! :D

Does it have the DSG gearbox? If so, what do you think of it?

Out of interest, what do you compare a car on?

ride, looks, fun to drive, fun to own, how much time you have to spend in the dealers getting it fixed...

I would say that that golf would win at the moment... wouldn't you?

Nice car Aswall I think Im going to have to eat my word on golfs (only some of them though ;) )

Nice one Andy - enjoy - you deserve to ;) :D
