So,

Another week, another injector seal and glow plug gone.....Also looks like my manifold is leaking.

Best get the cheque book out.

Anyone know how much to remove and clean/reseal an ML270 CDI inlet manifold?

Loathed to buy a new one, but may have to!

Best to renew all injector seals at the same time, i didnt when i did one of mine, but the rest of the seals failed shortly after, one by one. (same applies to the heater plugs)

The removal of the inlet manifold is quite a long job, it took me 6 hours to remove and refit. A new manifold costs £350 (part only)

So, 2 injector seals, new manifold as the old one is fubar, 2 new plugs and allot of cleaning....£1100....bugger.

I have just had an indie do that job on our ML270.

I purchased on of the cheap reproduction manifolds, as the new article here in Australia is $1,100. Reproduction unit $300

The indie told me that the moulding was not accurate and that he had to grind each end to reshape it a little, otherwise very good.

The old manifold was a mess. I soaked it in a solution for 24 hours, high pressure blasted it and used a Dremel to clean it.

Frankly, it would have cost more to clean and modify it than the cost of the reproduction manifold.

The indie charged me five hours labour, to do thejob, including a huge cleaning effort (EGR, engine, etc)

I am about to remove my inlet manifold as the flap arm is hanging off. What effect does it have on the engine by removing the flaps from the manifold?

None whatsoever, according to other posters who've done this.

TBH - I would rather have it fitted to the MB spec and keep the garages warranty in place, than try and do something non standard and then get a problem later down the line.....then not be covered by any work warranty (or statutory rights)

My c class is 2003 so doesn't have a lot of value so if there is a repair that saves me a quarter of the value of the car l think its well worth a go.

Well - all fixed, new manifold, 5 injector seals, clean up of engine and new motor and flap actuator - the car drives like new! Engine feels tight.
