Another tale of MB dealer inspired woe.

I just feel like I've been had over, even if I believed their story of the circumstances. I find it hard to believe they had a sump for my motor in stock.

So much for their "special price" for the job. I think they had this, or something similar, in mind all along.

Screw them...get the sump somewhere else and have them fit it. This way you'll still have to pay out...but they will really have to fit it for free.

Are you thinking they will lie to MB UK and claim the whole job under warranty or something?

You have been well and truly stealer shafted like many...another special offer money extraction scheme.

Personally I would source the oem sump elsewhere and get them to fit it as already indicated, 100% make sure you get the ACTUAL old sump for inspection purposes, it's yours anyway, compare part no.'s...then move on and take it as a painful lesson learned...

There's not doubt in my mind that this is another main dealer fook up & cover up backed up by lies.

If the oil pan was corroded (which is possible) and they were charged to carry out an oil change, one or two things should have happened as a matter of course. A/ Report oil pan unfit for service or B/ Advise owner that an oil pan will be required in due course due to the on set of corrosion.

As obviously neither of the above happened it's very fair to presume that the job was botched, corrosion or no corrosion.

P.s out of interest how much is it in the likes of Colindale now per hour, 150?

Hold on, where do they get £300 for the sump? I can see 3 that it could be, ranging from £35-£55 and besides, they should at least give you a healthy discount

I hope for all of our sakes and mb owners not on the forum, that you are NOT agreeing to this

Agreeing to atrocities like that just fuels them to keep mugging us all off and take the piss

Well, I've got my car back, driven by some courier who I then had to give a lift to into the village, where two other geezers waited for him in a layby, WTF?

It's also done over 100 miles for the 30 mile trip to my home. They told me it would be coming on a transporter the same way they collected it.

My rear bumper now has scratches on it.

The old sump isn't in the boot like they promised it would be.

I have an invoice for £144 pounds instead of the £300 that I paid.

The dealer is Arnold Clark MB of Aberdeen. I'm happy to name and shame them after this fiasco.

Write to the dealer principle, in fact I would escalate to MB UK. This is disgusting. If you have paid ia credit card I would ask them to reverse the payment

Ted,

You had a few good pointers from forum members on how to approach this problem, I am not really sure why you took this path:confused: unless you have lots of disposable income to give stealers:dk:...you paid the stealer upfront £300 without even seeing the said 'defective' sump off the car?:wallbash:
Would not surprise me if original sump is still fitted with a sealer fix...

Aye, I'm not on top form at the mo. I've got a broken big toe so I'm not so mobile. They took the car away to be inspected, so it's all been done by telephone.

If I'd have been fit I'd have been down there breaking off another toe in someones arisole!

Well, there's no more leaks, I left it parked up, with cardboard underneath, overnight.

There is a new sump fitted and the wiring mount is fitted correctly this time.

Thanks for your suggestions and moral support everyone, even if I couldn't do much about it. It was a real help with you sharing in my indignation! :)

Still not too late to do something about but that's obviously up to you. The problem of course is that the more these characters are allowed to get away with this stuff the more they will try it on. A dealer to avoid in the future methinks.

Aye, I'm just too weary to fight, I must be getting soft in my old age!

Lesson learnt, I'll just use them for an emergency parts source and try and find a decent independant to do the stuff I can't.

I did get a free tin of mints left on my console though!

A proper win for the small guy! :D

Naaah, that's for the fuel in exchange for the extra miles covered ;)

Alas, I am about to go and lay under the car to establish if I can see any corrosion.

There is just no helping some people.

Some people are just there to get shafted.
