I am considering buying a Mercedes Vito because of the functionality, but I am concerned that power-wise it will be too much of a slug for me. For someone that has owned a GTI, tuned A6 2.7T, E320 CDI, S500, and Q5, I can't imagine 0-100km in almost 14 seconds.
Sadly the only model available where I live is the 113CDI - OM651.940 136hp.
I know remaps are fairly common, but the power still seems lacking given it is a heavy vehicle.
I see that a company is offering a hybrid turbocharger that along with a tune, bigger IC, and exhaust can make 220-230 hp. Has anyone tried this?
The only diesel I have owned to date is the OM648 in an E320 CDI - it was a great engine.

Yes it will seem slow to what you've had previously but it's a commercial. I fitted a cheap tuning box which did waken it up abit.

I would be careful tuning the 651 engine; it is nowhere near as robust as the earlier 646/7/8 engines.

I know few engines were made as durable as those, but what issues are you referring to specifically?

I know a few people who have had problems with the 651 - either timing chain or bottom end problems. Also anecdotal evidence that there are always cars with 651 engines for sale as spares or repair due to engine problems - which is something that you don't see very often with the 646/7/8 engines.
