Hi All
As some of you may know I recently purchased a CLK320 W208 with a murky past. To cut a long story short I'm trying to get a chassis plate for the window and a type plate for the drivers B Pillar.
No dealer will order them over the phone and the online Oxford place took the order and then rang me to cancel it, althoug they did say if I went into a dealer in person with proof of ownership and a passport then I would be ok.
So today I went into Mercedes of Wirral and provided the V5, MOT, passport and driving license put still they won't order them. They now want a letter from the police. I pointed out that the car had been stolen sometime in 2001, somewhere in London and the chances of getting a letter from the police was next to zero. I suggested a may be able to get a letter from the salvage company assuming the last owner can remember which company he got it from and can be bothered to reply to my email. The parts guy said in that case I needed to talk to the manager who would be back in on Monday.
I don't hold out much hope that I can get a letter of any kind so has anyone got any suggestions about what else or where else I can try??
The part numbers I'm after are
A 210 584 00 02 26 Identification Plate 2.14 eur
A 210 584 01 01 26 Type Plate 19.68 eur
I wasn't sure which section to put this post in so admin please move it if required.
Thanks
