Is there anyway to stop a saved radio station tracking between DAB and FM? or force it to remain on FM or DAB?

The DAB signal in Glasgow and highlands is poor - and FM has much greater coverage - I would be happy enough for DAB and FM to co-exist - but not flip between...

e.g. I prefer BBCR2 on FM - as the signal on FM 89.9 stronger - but It appear to be only willing to play it on 233.x hz on DAB
Similar for Radio Scotland - I prefer 93.6?Hz FM but it tries to flip to DAB … the DAB signal is weak, so it switches between DAB and FM and the 0.5-1s Dab delay is a pain, as you ge the repeated words in conversations etc.

I am guessing that selecting the station on the FM frequency doesn't do that - at least it does on mine.

it doesn't appear to do so (if you have it saved as a preset)... not obviously anyway
Mmmk- that is a bugger. I recall a setting called something called auto retune, hidden away in the settings somewhere.

I have an E350 2016 model and mine does not flip flop between the two frequencies.

In North Norfolk where DAB can be hit and miss the signal just drops out.

Are you sure yours should do this?

The DAB simply cuts out if I'm tuned into a station that is exclusively on DAB if I am In a low signal area, but if I am tuned into a station like BBC R2, that broadcasts both on DAB and FM - it seems to default tune/switch to DAB (even if I tune to the FM station frequency ) and then switches automatically to FM in weak signal areas, then back to DAB in strong DAB signal areas.

OK, sorted!
There is a 'station tracking' option within the 'option' menu of the radio on the bottom RHS of the Comand screen. With the options
  • Automatic
  • Digital
  • Analogue and
  • Fix frequency

In order to keep on FM, One needs to select 'Analogue', then save the station as a favorite. That remembers the 'analogue' (i.e FM) only setting.
'Automatic' is the default setting and unless you save the station with 'Analogue' selected, when you change stations, then return to it, it reverts to automatic Digital (DAB) / Analogue (FM)tuning

Once saved with 'Analogue' (FM) tuning selected, the word "analogue" is displayed below the radio Frequency

sorted... :) no more radio skipping between DAB and FM! :)

Doesn't that mean that if you Select Digital and Save/Store that Selection the DAB also will "Locked In"?

Then you can "Fill your Boots" with Planet Rock!:D

yip, that is correct - except afaik, Planet Rock is only available of DAB - so it wouldn't switch to an FM frequency in an area of poor DAB as it isn't available on FM
TBH - i can't see the benefit of 'Digital' over 'Automatic', at least with (DAB/FM)as it appears to switch to digital in preference to a FM signal -

I was under the impression that if you selected "Digital" as you Preference DAB would "Lock In" and Planet Rock would be available (Other Rock Stations are available on Request)

I have only a couple of areas that DAB either "Drops Out" or dies, the A14 on the way out of Cambridge (North) and the A66 between Scotch Corner and the M6 "Intermittent Signal" :(

DAB should be readily available around Glasgow!

possibly... I guess selecting 'Digital' rather than 'Automatic' will keep the Digital tune locked - but if you don't have digital signal and it is locked, you get nothing....
the benefit of 'Automatic'would be to swithch from Digital to FM in drop out areas

Try Digital and see, as you now know how to change back it's easy peasy, if DAB is then available whats to lose?
