Hi All,
I’ve just driven a W123 Estate (300d – Turbo, no less!), for the first time. I went to see it in my 300d saloon, chalk and chees in terms of whoompf, obviously, but the difference in ride came as a surprise, the salon handled a lot better. That said it may be simply because I’m used to mine. Is the difference due to the chassis/weight or is that hydraulic suspension a big factor, the steering seemed quite a bit different as well. Is all this to be expected?

Thanks in advance – there might be a very nice 300d for sale soon.

Cheers,

Paul

No the cars should drive similarly... The steering would be very similar. The estate will have self levelling which in my opinion is a bteer ride but again, they should both be similar.

Can you be more specific on the differences?

The estate felt lighter (too light?), and maybe oversteered some.

The saloon has 84k, the estate 99.

I suppose that given the rust-free state I'll either get used to it or fix it - if he'll drop his price a few quid!

Cheers,

Paul

Thanks!

It's growing on me. I always said I'd never get another with 737 classic white, and swore I'd not get a blue interior, but you're only old once and that blue doesn't look too bad.

I've got until tomorrow night to either make another offer or walk away, we're only 500 apart.

Cheers,

Paul

Just a few more images, looks slightly less pimpyfied glass!
The bumpers will have to go!

If it's in good condition and you fancy it, buy it. Having the turbo will make it a much nicer drive than one sans turbo.

Bought it!
I've fancied one for twenty years or more. If it gives me anywhere near the fun of my other 617's I'll be delighted.
Probably a W124 low mile 300 for sale!
Cheers,
Paul
