Anyone fancy a CL65? Mine.

Great news David, although i hope you wont disappear from the Forum !!

Hope to see you at Brooklands on the 21st with the Alfa :)

Deal on the Alfa has gone sour, now there's a surprise I've been guzumped.

Doesn't sound like much of a friend to me!

What's next then?

  • That is typical BIRMA :( perhaps it just wasn’t meant tobe.

I think this is typical of the 'classic car' market at the moment, I did have my £5K deposit refunded as I'm not prepared to play a stupid bidding game so f**k it I walked away.
Last week when we were filling up my car we saw a metallic red Lexus RCF, it sounded and looked wonderful it has a V8 engine so I'm going to have a look at one.
A friend of mine has just bought one of the very last V8 M3's and I like it, it seems to shrink around you and doesn't half go but I felt it was a bit too much urgency in it's delivery and felt you would have to drive it fast all the time. Unlike the effortless wafting then power delivery of the CL65.
The later Lexus RCF's have active suspension, torque vectoring diffs and loads of gizmos that appeal to me plus it's a bit of a Marmite car which I like (both) which you don't see everyday.
As the obvious choice are the C63 AMG or an M car or fast Rs Audi this is a bit left field looks wise so appeals in that way too.
Still open mind, there is another Montreal on the market for a lot less money but I've been put off the whole idea now.

Sorry to hear BIRMA... get a 507.

The CL65 will be a hard car to top. I would have thought a C63/M3 would be a little harsh in comparison? Perhaps something inbetween? Shame they don't do an E65 :)

My thinking too, I liked the M3 as I had one of the very first M5's that came into the UK way back in 1985. The C63 will be too similar inside to my CL. I liked the late S8 I tried but have decided it's too big. I really want to try the Lexus RCF it's different and a left field choice that needs to be checked out.

I remember your S8 thread...is it that much bigger than you CL? The RCF does look like a nice alternative and like you, I like to have something a bit different that isn't too common on the roads. Good luck with the search sir

Sorry my comparison was with the size compared to the M3.
I booked a test drive in the RCF.

I've often thought I would have one if they did!

Whitenemesis has a Lexarse FC I think and seems to rate it highly.

I am considering a Lexarse as a future steed as I like the leftfield looks / style and build quality. Dealers are supposed to be excellent too and I know of someone who had a full bonnet respray because some rust developed around the badge and it wasn't even in warranty.

I'd agree about the looks, as I mentioned I saw a red RCF that not only looked great it sounded good too. When I phoned they were most obliging, they supplied full details of the servicing costs of the 5 litre V8 RCF plus two years warranty is £900. After Cl65 service and running costs I could run three or four of them.

You will have to come to the GTG in the Van or the Harley :D

After my test drive this morning it may be a very high spec Lexus RCF, active suspension, torque vectoring diff, cooled seats, Mark Levinson sound system, by god these cars are a gizmo sucker like me idea of heaven. Oh and it goes like stink and has the sound piping in the cabin like the LFA

Great David, see you in the LexArse then :)

try the new LS500 too .. it's a stunning car to my eyes
