1. Burn with high quallity cd!!!
2. Turn on the enjine and comand aps
3. Press and hold together keys 1-3-8 for 2-4sec. You'll see update menu.
4. Put the just burned service cd in.
5. It shows the current version and the new one (21.090).
6. Select yes.
7. Wait (up to 20min) and dont turn off the car!!! Or your comand get bricked!
8. When update finished turn off the enjine, lock the car with key and wait untill all is off.
9. Enjoy the new version!

If you must flash update your COMAND with a copied disk (and thus run the risk of a read error and your COMAND turning into a brick) then I suggest you run a decent CD laser cleaner first.

CD-R/CD-RW do not reflect the laser aswell as genuine CD so thus more likely to have a read issue ...

Having seen bricked COMAND's i'd obtain an original. But they are proving very hard to get at the moment.

Just a quick follow up: I went to the local MB Dealer (MB Europe in Brussels) and they performed the update without any problems.

This is the one area i'd strongly advise not using a burned CD. Burned CDs are harder to read than factory ones, and if it goes wrong during a flash update you end up with a dead irreparable COMAND unit. Get your dealer to do it, or find someone who has bought an original disk and will sell it to you cheap or even lend it to you. Or you can get new ones from Comand Online, but they are designed for multiple use !!

Video in motion was disabled for a very good reason.
