Hi All,

New to the forum and just purchased, awaiting delivery of APS 30 Navigation, Becker BE4715, which I intend ( hopefully ) to fit to an SLK 200 R170 model, unfortunately it is coming without instruction booklet and the local MB dealers are cannot turn up a copy of the users manual. I would be delighted if i could purchase a copy ( or photocopy ) of the BE4715 manual, or if anyone has this on email ,

Forum has already provided me with lots of info on these APS units and indeed alloy wheels discussions,

Thanks

Frank.

Welcome to the forum Frank

The Operating manual for the APS 30 is, part number 170 584 77 96 GB Version A 02/02 can be ordered from the dealer, cost about £11 inclusive.

thanx

this saves me posting the same question..thanx fr the info wobbly..much apreciated.

i do have another problem with my sat nav unit ... i purchased second hand from a chap in germany quite some time ago... i have been in touch with him recently and he assures me that it was working fine ..but... it is unable to pic up any satelites even with changing the arial!!
Any recomendations on someone to test it? or specialist repairers would be great thankyou ian

vclassy,

When installing the APS30, it some times takes upto an hour of driving around for the system, to lock on to the satellites, give that a try first.

What type of antenna are you using ? It also helps if you try moving the antenna to a different area of the vehicle to try and get a clearer view of the satellites.

wobbly,

am using the antenna spplied which is the mb have tried driving around though with it stuck to the side of the windscreen pillar. I have also fitted a dual roof arial and connected to that also without success!! but only for about five minutes to test .
perhaps i shoud reconnect and try again !

If this doesnt work , do you have any other suggestions for testing or name of a repairer??
thankyou ian

Ian

Sorry I dont know anyone who could repair these systems.

Your MB anntenna must have a clear line of sight to the satellites, so attaching it to the windscreen surround would not help, try attaching to the top of the dashboard, and as I said before you must drive around for a while, for the system to lock onto the satellites.

Hi, Thanks for that information, i'll contact MB to get copy organised. I fitted the APS 30 to my SLK 200 last night ( year 2000 model ) fitted the antenna above the dash and jammed wires between dash and windscreen running towards drivers side, down below pillar on right, removed the panel to right of instrument cluster, 2 plastic screws holding same, (void behind contains fuses - easily removed, fed the wire across then into the space for the radio in the centre console. I removed the brushed steel fascia panel but on hindsight it was not necessary, connected up the ariel and prewired push in connectors to the APS unit, tested to make sure it was powered up then slottecthe APS into place, inserted the radio code and bingo ...5 satellites being received. The Software I received was Version 4.2 so doesn't cover Ireland but I did a position test and the satellite co-ordinates change when i move the car in different directions so hopefully when i receive the new disk ( version 9 ) it will function fully. The unit is very impressive, Radio and CD functionality excellent, sound quality also very good. Looking forward to getting Manual to fully get an understanding of the unit. I hope the manual covers commissioning the unit for this car, ie this ' test run ' procedure which my unit seemed not to require, i presume it is still operating on the basis of the previous car it was removed from. Thanks again for all your guidance on this issue.

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I also have an APS30 when I bought my car a few months back, never did have a manual for it and was wondering if anyone have an idiots guide on how to change the distance reading on the Sat Nav from KM to MILES. I've gone through every menu screen and simply cannot find this setting, thank you.

Try the LANG(uage) setting from the main NAV menu. You will need to leave the NAV CD in the unit. Now you can choose between English KM and English Miles or other languages if needed.

If the tyres are the same size and the previous car you don't have to change any thing. Just update your unit with the NAV CD Version 9. If you get an early CD set it MIGHT have the wrong lables on it. The labels of CD 1 and 3 are swapt.

Audio 30 APS - User Manual

I have just installed an APS30 in my W203 (02) and was wondering if anybody could help me out with the user instruction manual. I have ordered one from MB but apparently they are out of stock, and they wait until they have sufficient orders before initiating a new print run (could be some time then!).

Does anybody have a photocopy or scanned copy that I could acquire in the mean time?

Regards, Mark

i just brought a aps30 from ebay but it oes not have a disc, whats the latest version for the disc , anyone can do me a backup copy?
