One of my number plate bulbs has gone.

It was replaced earlier last year (April) by a main dealer.

Are such bulbs covered by warranty? Am I able to go back to the main dealer with the receipt, and have it replaced free of charge?

Thanks. :)

Er yeah probably:crazy:

I went to get it done at a main dealer in the first place because I tried three different Halfords for the bulb and coundn't find it in any of them.

Dealer is on the way to work anyway, so I'll pop in and ask tomorrow.

I thought I had lapsed into a coma on the 12th of February and woken on April 1st, then looked at the date of the OP and realised this was for real!

MERCEDES E-KLASSE E 320 (211.065) (W211) (224 hp) (3/2002 -) replacement bulbs

Normally use the above site and have always had the correct bulbs.

Thanks, but I've already bought them on eBay!

Yes, it is for real, what makes you think it isn't? I thought I'd better ask on here first, before going and asking the dealer. Just as well, saved me a trip! :)

I think its a fair question. Or how cheap do you consider is silly? Well surely that depends how wealthy you are! Things need to be fit for the purpose, ie how long should a bulb last? If you think more than 10 months, I would go and tell them that. Or if it lasts 3 months is that ok?At £4 a bulb, thats £16 a year or £50 over 4 years. Id rather have the £50 in pocket than theirs... its all relative really.

"Consumables" are never covered by a proper 100% guarantee, although you may get a garage or dealer which will be reasonable and give you a replacement. But its down to them.

As a BTB...............rear number plate bulbs are notorious for failing on some models. I have had about 4 blow in one year. The two that are in there now have been OK for about 6 months so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I was told its all to do with slamming the boot lid shut and the filament fails with the shock.

In that case it s a design fault... should we all put a claim into Merc UK :D

lol that would shock them ( make them laugh ) if a few thousand of us sent in letters.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. LEDs might be a better solution, if I can find some which don't give an error message. I might consider getting some if the new ones go again.

Good thing I asked.

You are right to ask -- ignore the silly remarks that some others make :dk:

;)

Cheers

Use genuine MB bulbs as they do seem to last longer.
Ones from other sources (i.e. Halfords) only seem to last a matter of days sometimes.
They may look similar, but I am sure they are better designed and made.
