Are high centre console storage boxes, (which also acts as an armrest) ever used on cars with manual seat adjustment? Reason I ask is cos would there be enough space to squeaze your hand to turn the recline adjustment wheel?

I have seen these high centre console boxes in C classes but I was wondering if it could fit in a W124? - (which doesn't have a front folding armrest)

Any advice would appreciated.

Depends on the size of the hand doing the adjusting! Adjusting my seat isn't difficult, but adjusting the passenger's one for them is a right pain.(1999 W202 C230K)

I haven't had to lean over and use the passenger recliner myself since I was about 18 :D :D Ahhh, happy memories!

Seriously though, I have manual seats and the high centre-console and I have no problem reaching and using the recliner.

As, it's Friday ;), you dont need the use your full hand sir, fingertips are all that is required, such is the operational smoothness of the afformentioned lumbar adjustment mechanism. :D

It's all coming back to me now, that's exactly what she said ;)

But would this high centre console storage box from a c class fit in my W124? If not then which other model has one that would fit in my 124?

Which Merc do you have nickmann?

Also to adjust the height of the front seat headrests on a 124 (not sure about other Mercs) you have to pull the adjustment wheel out and then turn. Would there be enough space for the wheel to be pulled out, if a high centre console or any other console box is fitted there?

Thanx

Munkee, from memory, and ive just had a quick at mine through the rain, my armrest is height adjustable purely by pivot so when its fully raised it slants back 30 degs or so. Mines a C class coupe so ive looked through some brochures and the saloon looks to be the same. I would have thought that anything higher would be either, uncomfortable and no good for your arm but, maybe ok your head. Seriously though are you sure this is an option?, i've never seen it for real or in any brochures. I have to go to the very local Dealers (Bradford, not my usual) early next week so If you are miles from one I can check if you let me know exactly, maybe PM me?

On the 124, a fold down armrest was an option ,we have it on ours. As far as i know its an easy fit and the socket is already installed on the seat. If you feel the side of the passenger side backrest part of the seat, about half way up you should be able to feel the socket through the material. The arm rest should be able to be found at a breakers or give V12 (on the forum) a try.

Tan, If I find a folding armrest for a W124 at a breakers then how can I fit it? Does it simply slot into the socket and start working? I would obviously have to cut through the mateial to gain access to the socket. How can I make a neat cut or is there a plate or cap that fits over it and hides the cut?

Thanx
