Attempted theft GLA180

Some scumbags attempted I believe to steal our car last night.

Found the driver side window smashed and for some reason the push to start button has been stolen too.

What’s strange is that the door remained locked?

Any idea what the thieves were trying to do here? Or whether there’s a chance they will come back?


The part that baffles me is why they would remove the push to start button? This was on street parking so there’s no chance they could try the relay trick…

The other odd thing is that neighbours suggested the car alarm only went off for 5 mins or so… is that normal? How would the their deactivate the alarm without the key?

Hi , I removed the stop start button on my car.

I use one steering lock when the car is on my drive but in London I use two of them in conjunction with each other.

If they are targeting Mercedes cars and owners remove the said button the trash have a spare.

Hi , it's nothing to do with the value of the button but it makes the car harder to start ( not impossible )

You’d be surprised, pretty sure if they know which house you have the key in they can ’extend’ it using a repeater as long as it’s within a reasonable distance!

Hi , if your car has been ordered a professional gang of car scumbags they generally will fulfill the order.

I would suspect many cars are now stolen for spares !
