Audi A6 Avant 3.0 Bi TDi Quattro Black Edition

I have the configurator spec somewhere if you're interested.

If you don't mind, thanks.

You're description of it being a bit too good and too clinical is what I'm after I think at the minute; nothing's really exciting me and I've got a potential £30k+ budget. So I'm thinking just to get something 'clinical' until spring decides to rear its ugly head.

Good to know that it's served you well though, I'd be looking at 62 plates probably which are north of £15k.

Found it, struggling to attach it. I'll have a go using the laptop tomorrow :thumb:

Are the killer S8 deals back? I was so tempted at £499 pm in the summer. Someone on MBClub pulled the trigger on that deal

I've attached the photo posted on my Facebook earlier. £350 a month for an Audi S8 is just ridiculous!

Sadly my Audi was stolen a few weeks ago :(

Sorry to hear that chap.

It's rife at the moment.

With no cops anymore due to cuts, can't really see this ending soon. :dk:

Sad to read this Bobby. I know you loved that car.

Fingers crossed for a quick settlement for you.

Ant.

It was taken from home whilst we were away on holiday, the final night of almost three weeks away. The car can be replaced but some of the contents sadly cannot.

Very sorry to hear that Rob

I've got a Daniel o'Donnell cd if you need to rip a copy pal?

Could you give me a few thoughts on these Rob? Doesn't have to be too detailed, just the little things that you pick up day to day, thanks.

Would you have another A6 Bobby?

We're test driving an S6 this week with an eye or ordering a New S6 Avant as there are some great discounted broker deals on this model plus I can get it painted pretty much any colour I like.

It was a great car, it did everything asked of it to a very high standard. It was huge inside, absolutely massive. The interior was a nice place to be, nicely put together and well finished. The audio and satnav were good quality and intuitive. It was fast, very fast. The 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox was an outstanding transmission. It was pretty good on fuel given the level of performance, although getting beyond 40 MPG was a rarity.

It was very, very capable, but it was perhaps too good, to polished, because it was almost clinical. A tool. That sounds like a negative, but I the reason I went for it was that it was the fastest, waftiest car I could get whilst complying with a policy which dictates cars used for company business must be below <180g/km, and it was perfect for that. Very, very relaxed way of making rapid progress after a long day.

Would I have another? No, but I wouldn't hesitate recommending one. They're great cars. Given that it there was barely any sensation of speed, I probably wouldn't recommend anything less than the 3.0 Bi TDi or S6 though, as they would feel really slow!

This would be replacing our E Estate so i figure size wise at least they will be similar.

This kind of sums up exactly what I'm looking for. We have the SL for a fun sunshine day car. The estate is our every day car.

Doing a bit of man lateral thinking, the S6 effectively has the engine and running gear from a Bentley Continental GT (albeit slightly detuned). So an S6 Avant is a Bentley GT Estate with a £100K saving!

They also seem to be quite rare used and the few that are available hold there money very well and seem to get snapped up in no time.

The RS6 doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, I like the Q car quality of the S6.

That's not a bad way of looking at it. A bargain when you look at it through that lens, and a Bentley shooting brake or estate would require a big bill at a quality coachbuilder, making the S6 an even bigger bargain!

The S6 will have a similar appearance to my Bi TDi. It looked smart, and sporty, but much more discrete than the RS6.

I do like the RS6 but it is a bit shouty to look at. I prefer my completely ridiculous twin turbo four wheel drive cars to be ML shaped ;) :D

Historically I've found Audi's a bit stiff in the suspension department, but I understand that has been addressed and the S6 comes with air suspension as standard. I'm quite looking forward to having a drive in one during the week.

I also found the willingness of the dealer to arrange custom options very refreshing.

We took an S6 out for a drive this afternoon and immediately fell in love with it.

I've always struggled with the harsh ride of S Line Audi's to a degree that I found the thought of owning one impossible. That's changed, at least with the model we drove.

The car we drove was running 20" option alloys and standard air suspension which I tried in Auto, Comfort and Dynamic modes.

Auto and Comfort were easily on a par with our E220 Estate on comfort suspension and 18" wheels. Dynamic was firm and sporty.

It was incredibly easy to drive around town and went like a rocketship the moment you hit the throttle.

This will be our next car. The dealer is now double checking we can paint in the colour we've requested. As it's a custom order we won't see it until next year, which is fine.

I really liked the navigation map in between the rev counter and speedo, it's logical.

I also found all the switchgear intuitive, in the right place and easy to use.

I didn't like the quilted super sport seats though and we'll go with the comfort option.

Glad you liked it. They're great cars, and a very easy car to live with and own. Looking forward to seeing it in Burnt Orange ;) :thumb:

Any pics?

I'm seriously considering either a Bi-Turbo diesel A7 or A6 next.
