Please - can anyone help? For some reason when I push the button, our Audio 10 doesn't come on any more. Don't know why not. Did have to retrieve a 1p coin that my son stuck down there with a fondue prong, but the radio and casette were working perfectly well even with the 1p coin! Could I have damaged something when I put the prong in to the casette holder?

Any advice gratefully recieved. Really can't afford to buy a new system.

I've located the fuse box now and the radio seems to be position 13 (10A). I have tried replacing it with another 10A fuse (red) but no joy. I can understand the positions 12/13 etc but what are the fuses NEXT to the number (as opposed to above it?).

Thanks!

I thought this was an E-class car, E320, the info earlier was for a W203?

Is it a W210, W211, and if yes, which exact MY (I know the W-plate tells it but not for me). The fuse assignments change a bit a few times over a model year.

In any case, each fuse should have a number assigned, if the fuse number is below the fuse, then a fuse next to the number should have its own number too. Perhaps a photo would help.

Thanks - I will have another look tomorrow!

I think on a W210 E-Class it's the standard square-cornered Audio 10 unit. If so I don't think you need to remove any trim.

You will need the 'keys' that are used to secure the unit in position. These are available from your dealer for a pound or so.

If it's completely kaput it might not be the end of the world. You should be able to pick up a replacement fairly cheaply as they're often removed and replaced with a CD player. Not much of a market for cassette players these days, so good news if you're looking for one. ;)

Being a W reg E Class, I doubt you will need to remove any trim at all to get the radio out (as Bobby Dazzler says). As already suggested, get the removal keys from your local dealership parts dept. Being a girly you should get them for free!! (My wife did :-) but they wanted to charge me)
It could be worth just pulling the power from the back of the unit, reconnecting and then seeing if it will work. I had an old APS30 unit that was a bit tempromental and a power reset would always sort it. Worth a try.

Just take the 10 out, throw it in the bin and fit a cd player in instead.
Plugs straight in on the ISO plugs.
That's what I did.

Becker are good quality units, and are an OEM supplier to MB. They're also inkeeping with the interior of a quality car.

Many Becker units are switchable between two colours - amber is ideal for MB - OEM Porsche colour too (Porsche CDR-22)

IIRC amber is switchable with red, so that also may mean that units from a VW might offer amber illumination.

Land Rover, Ferrari and Maserati also fit Becker as OEM units but not sure of lighting colour.

Becker also offer a sat-nav version. Checked ebay, and there are a few available at the moment.

Something like this would be good, although you'd need to check colours if you want to match your existing interior lighting:

Or this:

Very likely a straight swap for your existing Audio 10. If you go for the sat-nav version, it should come with the GPS sensor, which you'd need to locate somewhere.

I hope this helps.

:o

why on earth did i thnk it was a W203 ...

ill get my coat .. apologies all round.

W210 comes out easy with the two removal tools. Any head unit will go into the standard sized slot.

Couldn't say. I'm sure a friendly Becker re-seller would be able to offer some help here if steering controls are important to LucyH.
