Audio 10 what the heck?

Hi guys, long time not on here.

Divorce, bankrupt, lost AMG <sob> Anyhooo

I am back with a Merc, bit of an old dog, a C220CDI coupe diesel, on an 02 plate,but cheap to run.

Question:- Is it worth ripping out the audio 10, and perhaps fitting an aftermarket? If it's an arm and a leg, forget it, as I am fairly skint, unless their is a simple way to do it myself. Would really like MP3 ability.
Did read through all the posts, just wonderd what the current state of play was?

Also I have this phone cradle A 203 820 04 51 looks not unlike the old cradle I had in my 04 E-class, so as luck would have it I still have two 6310i 's. Sadly they charge but do not a lot else, so either I have the wrong phone, or another duff thing on the car?

So in essence is it a rip it all out, or a salvage what I can? Would also like a replacement that uses the steering wheel controls.

Hey Paul welcome back. I may be wrong but I think that cradle is suitable for 6210 and 6310 but not 'i' models. I still use a 6210 in my E-Class cradle so you are welcome to drop by to test the phone in your cradle if you're passing to see if thats the case.

This SONY is a good unit. LINK.

I have one in my 210 and one in the Sprinter.

Bluetooth, CD, USB etc. Comes with a remote control as standard which is a easy to use.

It improved the sound quality in the 210. I had Audio 10 and hated the sound, but the Sony makes a big difference even using the existing speakers.

Find your comment very interesting. I posted a threat about the telephone sound quality in my R230 (Dec 2002) being very poor. I have a 6310i on a MB craddle, could my issue be as a result of what you mention?

Halfords sell the 3900U but not as cheap as this one on Amazon. LINK.
