Audio 20 (Back to basics issues)

One of the frustrating problems during this period when I'm about to purchuse a new SLK is not finding enough information to provide a basis for any decsions.

The car that we are purchasing has the Audio 20 as a standard item, but I understand from various forums that this piece of kit isn't highly rated.

First of all, does the Audio 20 link up to 8 or 9 speakers?
Is the MB salesman right in saying that the Audio 20 has NTG 2.5 technology included for SLK sold in 2010?

Where can I get the specs for this system as I need to provide some details to the company that will be installing some Audison or Hertz speakers.

What speaker sizes are in a 2010 SLK?

Is there a need for speaker deadening or dampening material to be installed in a SLK?

Where have people installed their amps?

Where have people installed their Subwoofer other than in the boot?

What issues are there (if any) about the wiring to be found behind the head Unit?

Is there anything that we should be aware of behind the panels or in-fact the task of removing the panels

Sorry for the questions but I wasn't able to get an answers from MB????

Audio 20 is ok, the latest ones have bluetooth and sound ok, anyway, you'll have the roof down most of the time anyway!....heated seats and airscarf are better places for your money!

The heated seats and Airscarf are already on-board!

Presently have an VVC MGF (which everyone accepts is a poorly built car) but with a number of I.C.E installations, the audio courtesy of Hertz and a 'Genesis amp' provided a fantastic sound with no distortion.

I have to say, merc do very nice upgrades, my GL had the Harman Kardon logic 7 system...pricey but marvellous......I'd endeavour to keep the car original-looking so an amp and speaker upgrade is prob the way to go.....hang in there, someone who knows about this more than me will be along soon....the forum here is a fantastic resource......Enjoy the SLK........MGF, talk about night & day!! lol!
