would a auto dim rear view mirror be plug and play on my 1999 w208 clk?

Hi,
Yes it is plug and play, the mirrors for the 210 facelift and the 202 facelift are the same as for the 208.
Look on E-bay, there are always plenty on there from about £30 upwards.

It may not be quite plug and play on all models - often the OCP needs coding to tell it is there. It will work without coding but does not then undim when you select reverse (and you want it to undim to get a really good view of behind.

What I cant remember is which cars it needs to be coded on and which it doesnt as I normally just plug in Star Diagnosis and check, so i'm not trying to detract from Andy's post - just extend the info for others with other cars who read this

I have fitted dimming RVM's to two W202's and they both don't dim when reverse is selected. (Funny you mentioned this, i was thinking this the other day while reversing out of a driveway when it was dark)

Richard is it possible to code this feature on W202's with retro fitted RVM's?

You mean 'undim' ??

Looks like I need to do the same on my W202 as all I did was plug and play too.

Momomo, do they "undim" or do the remain dimmed.

I've never done a W202, and I can't remember when I did my W208 whether it was an option in the Overhead Control Panel settings - so the only way i'm afraid is to look with Star Diagnosis ..

Thanks Richard. I will look into it.

Hi,
I have fitted AD, RVM to both my W202's and they worked straight out of the box, no coding needed, I have the retro-fit official MB work instructions for the W202, W210 and the 208 and it makes no mention of coding.

I have an SLK 55 with a non dimming RVM can I swap for a dimming version?

That means that W202 AD RVM's dont un-dim when reverse is selected.

No it un-dim in reverse, and also when you light up the cabin light (don't ask me why:)).
I retrofitted it on my old W202 and it worked in this way.

Now I've installed the same one on the w203, but being the connection differents I simply connected the 12V (underkey from the consolle 12V plug), it's a home made solution but really I don't miss the reverse and light un-dim mode:D
