short and to the point , i have a 320 yr 2000 auto and i want to replace my gear knob , how does it come off , so i can fit another one ??

the ring at the base of the knob rotates to unlock it from the shaft, then you pull upwards.

The lower silver part under the wood or leather portion twists and the knob just pulls off , at least on my 2001 CL...
Damn beat me too it !

Try putting the lever into 1st gear, this will give you a better grip, it does turn quite easy, a dry grip is important, if you have a piece of rubber or a rubber glove then that will help.
