I have a 2011 c220 cdi auto which stalls when I first engage drive or reverse. Once it’s done half a mile or so it’s absolutely fine. Any ideas?

Agree with SMS almost certainly the torque convertor, had this exact issue with my C43 5 Speed.
I would start it and leave it to idle for a minute or two and it wouldn't stall out though the revs would dip very low.
I had the GB Oil changed and flushed and week or two after it no longer did it, though this was only temporary as it returned after about six months.
I had the GB rebuilt and TC replaced when i fitted a 55 AMG engine and of course no longer there.
I always believed it to have been caused by the TC.

I have an Issue with Stalling from cold car starts fine. when put into drive or reverse car will stall Iff the engine is run for a min or so the car will take off ok I suspect. a auto gearbox fault transmission fluid and filter have been changed before I purchased the car 6 months ago other than the. the car drives fine with 160Miles on the clock
