I sometimes get a bit better than that on the 350 CDI. You must have a leaden foot.

This thread is so confusing. I’d be tempted to think that there’s nothing really wrong with your car save for any obvious leaks/seals.

It’s freezing cold and it’s a 2 ton car doing short trips…

I don't think you will find anything worth bothering tbh. I waited for years for a good condition part and for £100 was still an oily mess with the rubber sections uncrimped and moderate deformation on the collar from the usual heavy clamping.

I was going to say if you can find one with a good central pipe and knackered mafs ,you could have a go at putting your mafs onto it . I've found a new one at £99 or best offer on eBay . Used ones are around £150 to £200 . With no guarantee on the mafs being good.

I’ll keep looking. I’ve seen some new ones for around £100 but it looks different to my one

Just got one off eBay for £80, collar looks intact. Fingers crossed all good, should turn up mid week. I already have a set of new genuine seals to go on it

I've not seen one of these MAFs fail yet. Even soaked a pair from one of my 320s in engine degreaser and works the same.

When needed one they were circa £500 but I received a rebate of, I think, about £230 when returning the original part.

The issue is some people buy a car that was £45000 new at 10 years old etc but forget that the parts prices stay commensurate with the purchase price and it can be a shock.
