High fuel consumption w212 e350 cdi estate

The issue is some people buy a car that was £45000 new at 10 years old etc but forget that the parts prices stay commensurate with the purchase price and it can be a shock.
Very true. I guess as they include the 2x maf sensors as well. If they split the part and sold them separately, would of been ideal.

Bosch do 👍 if you have a good middle .

Just checked my c350 brim to brim and 90/10 motorway/town driving and it is 34 mpg (dash readout says 39) so yours sounds normal, albeit disappointing!

Just done a 192 mile round trip to Rotherham this morning, got 44.4mpg overall

The fuel gauge goes down fast though, 130miles in I was at 3/4 left from a full tank, although car showed it could still do nearly 600miles….wouldnt be too confident on that.

600 based on your current usage , drop to 30mph and that'll fly down. After 5 hours I was on 40.3 from a 4*4 glc 350 . So not far off the mark compared to yours. Mpg will surely go up when things warm up outside . 👍👍

That’ll be down to 300 when the short journeys start.

I was happy with the 44 tbh

Ru running on summer tyres ??
Yes. Got rid of my winters earlier in the year as I was planning on selling the car, but couldn’t find what to get as a replacement. Needed a large estate as it’s just used for tip runs, collect stuff for the house etc…nothing looked any bigger and rather keep a car I know

So if your dash over reads by 5 like mine that's 40 mpg, which is probably about right.

Most likely.

Did a calculation when I filled up yesterday, worked out to be 24mpg.

24 mpg from predominantly sub 15 minutes drives? Sounds plausible. Sounds way too low if this is longer trips. I've discovered mine drinks fuel like a bastard for the first 10 mins then becomes reasonably efficient, but the average is therefore only mediocre. On the other hand our engines have AMG level torque so maybe it's not to be unexpected

I wonder how much difference a cracked batwing can also cause and there will be incorrect readings

New batwing turned up today, the connection looks intact thankfully. Will get it fitted one evening this week

new batwing fitted. Old one must of been damaged since buying the car as it’s never fitted well.
