Autoexpress review on headlight bulbs - Osram nightbreaker didn't do so well as the others though, and I just fitted them before reading this test

Were you happy with the light they produced before you read the test ?

Was hoping that mine would be delivered today!

How olds your W202? If its pre-facelift you would be better off using your mobile phone screen as headlights as they are so poor.

Upgrade to a pair of facelift clusters and you will notice the difference straight away :D

facelifted cars light up quite well, on mine I've done several testing with different H7 bulbs, at the end I've installed also relays and dedicated wires obviously not good as a proper xenon solution but was really good:)

1999 so original lamps wern't an issue. However I wanted the best lighting possible below Xenon.

I may still buy the Philips Xtreme and stick these Osrams onto the high beam.

My Xtreme vision bulbs should have arrived by time I get home tonight, I will post pictures of them agaist my existing Halfords Super Brilliance & the OEM bulbs :)

I put Philips Xtreme in all 3 of our vehicles a couple of months ago.

Actually I've not driven the SL in the dark since then :o

But they're good in the Vito and the Audi :)

I use Philips extreme 80s and rate them highly........:D

Sorry for the delay in the pictures, I have managed to take the following, although they arent the best (Used a Nokia N82) which is not amazing with bright lights in the dark.

I changed my existing Halfords Brilliance bulbs from my W202 into my Dad's W210 and then fitted a pair of Philips Xtreme Power to my W202.

Dad's W210 with standard yellow bulbs:

Now I fitted the Halfords Super Brilliance bulbs:

Amazingly they look like Xenon's in this shot, they arent as white in reality:

The following shots are of the Philips Xtreme power bulbs, I havent managed to get any nighttime shots of them at present:

Overall, the Halfords Super Brilliance bulbs are very impressive. They are not as bright as the Xtreme power bulbs, but they are closer to Xenon being white.

I wasnt as amazed with the performance of the Philips Xtreme power at 1st, they are halfway between standard bulbs and the Halfords for whiteness and they didnt appear to be as bright as everyone claims.
At night however you can see much further down the road than the other 2 sets, even though they dont appear as bright!?! maybe its me :)

How do you get the little side light bulbs out? I can't seem to make them move on my W203?

Cheers for anyhelp!!

That's why you need a proper test like the Auto Express one. Beam pattern and accuracy is as important as brightness.

I've also just fitted some Philips Xtreme headlight bulbs and found their initial impression to be average. The amount of light on the road seemed to have only improved slightly, BUT road signs and cat's eyes were very bright indeed. So it seems as if the bulbs are effective after all...... it's all in the scientific tests and not my subjective eyes I suspect.
