Just wondering if anyone here manage to negotiate Aviva's futuristic automated voice recognition telephone system?

Unfortunately it does not understand me, I have to keep talking to it while it claims it does not understand, until it times-out - apparently after a set time (around 10 minutes or so) the system is configured to try and transfer you to a live person, but somehow fails and I get disconnected. :(

My problem is that me renewal says I have the optional 'Personal Injury Cover' - when I check the 'help' button on the online renewal forum, it basically says that the details are included in the policy booklet. But the policy booklet does not say anything about optional personal injury cover....

I am tempted to just leave it there - it probably does not cost that much anyway, and I have been going around in circles for the past two hours...

Try and get their HO number in Norwich, call reception and ask for the sept you want.

I forgot they used to be Norwich Union... will do that, thanks.

Incidentally... this is the 'clear-as-mud' information from the online website:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Personal Accident Cover
Cover for 'Injury to you or your partner' is automatically provided as part of your standard Aviva policy. You can upgrade this to an enhanced level of cover by choosing the Personal accident cover option.

What's covered?
Personal accident cover increases the personal injury limit up to an additional £40,000 if the cover is for the policyholder only, or £20,000 each for the policyholder and their partner.

If you or your partner are accidentally injured in your car, or any other private car that does not belong to you (and isn't hired under a hire-purchase agreement), we will pay £2,500 if within three months of the accident the injury is the only cause of you or your partner's death, permanent loss of sight in one or both eyes, or loss of any limb. For more details, please read your policy booklet under Section 3.

Any conditions?
- Cover is only available for the policyholder and their partner
- The claimant must be under 75 years of age
- Claims must be made within three months of the accident
- A limit of two claims per person per period of insurance is permitted.

What isn't covered?
You'll find full details of any exclusions in your policy booklet.

-------------------------------------------------------------

It is not clear how much do I have to pay for the 'upgrade this to an enhanced level of cover', and under what condition I can make a claim?

Do most car owners just pay the policy as is and never really query these mystifying add-ons?
