Hello all,

I'm on the look out for a B Class (manual/diesel) for the missus. Anything or any years to steer clear of? All advice much appreciated ..

Very best,

Rob ..

Check the spare wheel well for water. If so the rear seals behind the bumper will need doing. If going for leather it most likely will be artico. Check for cracks on the bolsters.

Much obliged, thanks very much.

Depends if its a W245 or W246? The earlier models CVT auto box could be problematic along with drive shafts. The later model has the same automated twin clutch auto as the present A class which seems to be more reliable . Neither an issue if its a manual of course.

Go for a W246 if within your budget. We've had ours for 3 years now and it's been faultless over 20k miles. Ours has the Artico faux leather and still looks like new and can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Go for an Executive and you get heated seats and folding mirrors. We get an indicated 70+mpg on a long run (actual 66-68mpg) and mid 50's in town. The 7G-DCT auto box makes driving much more relaxing, as does the 'hold' function at traffic lights. Bags of room in the back and the rear seats slide forwards to make a larger boot. In sum, an ideal family car.

Thanks for all the replies guys, very much appreciated.
