Hi I have a B160 sport auto and the servicing indicator says I have 16 days left until service - will this be a service A or service B - ( my car is 2 years old on Sept 1st and has 12k miles on it )
my local North West dealership is saying in a flyer sent to me its £189 minor or £299 major is this about the norm or are other dealers cheaper ? And am I likely to have to pay for other bits and bobs - since I bought it I have never had it serviced as the last person had it serviced before they sold it at 1 years old so never sampled the delights ? Of Mercedes servicing !!

Thanks ...:)

Second service will be a B service. Will need brake fluid and dust filter so also extra, say another £90?

£299 is fairly standard.

forgot batteries for the key fobs!

ring around and ask your local dealer to compete. let us know how you get on?

This is dead easy - there's two services "A" and "B".
"A" is oil-change, quick check, vacum, wash, vaseline and hand-back.
"B" is "A" plus more vaseline as they will then charge you for more extras!

If it's never been serviced, the first one should be "A", second one "B" etc.

If you look in the service book there's all sorts of other things that get changed on certain intervals for B-Class. As the other poster says - 2 years is brake fluid - £59 flat fee (or should be). Depending on the actual age of the vehicle now it may be due other stuff too, dust/combination filter, fuel filter etc. but your book will tell you. If it's an Autotronic, you need to beware the fluid-change intervals on that - I think that's £159 on TOP of the service price and the extras. Get it done, a new box is probably almost as much as a good 2/h car!

BTW - if you ever work out what the "Letter" in the dash means, let me know, as, as far as I can tell it's cobblers and bears no relation to what they charge you for....some say it's the amount of time or the number of things that need to be checked - but since A/B services are fixed content, and everything else is extra, I reckon it's just "**** scratching" time.....

HTH,
Cheers,
Dan.

I used to have a Gl320CDI and the service letters we had were A, B, D(think its right), H, A (Had it for 5 years from new). The H service was £1000. But they changed the system to service A or B from 2009/10 roughly.
In my old manual it states depending on use the first service can be a service B and on the new car.

Well in my car went was told that C meant it was a major service plus brake fluid plus combination air filter - cost just under £350 - fab customer service - they lent me an SLK as well for the day - my younger son couldn't believe it - went out for the day with him roof down .....ah bliss ! Thanks everyone .....
