Back in 2003 some nut case tried to break into my benz and failed but scratched the door pillar covers - the shiny black things as pictured. I am now wanting to replace these 2 covers. Can someone help with dismantling the cover - is it a simple remove screws and put new one in place and screw back job? I think the screws are on the inside of the door frame yes? I found a pair at mercland but yet to buy but wanted to ensure it is a DIY thing.

Hi, I had this on our 95 W202 after someone tried to break in too (the first time) the second time they just smashed the window :( . Anyway - YES it is really really simple to change just the two screws (I think it's two) that you mention on the leading edge of the door frame.

Won't take more than 5 minutes! Can't remember how much from MB but I only had to change 1 anyway. Hope this helps...

btw - great colour, our W202 was Blue Black too. Did you ship your car out to Sydney from the UK?

Hiya, yes it does help, thanks! I love the blue black colour as its very regal exactly spot on for benz. yes I did ship it out to oz. I am just back in uk for a mth and so am keen to get some parts whilst here. where population is high things are generally cheaper. You seem to know quite a bit ... I am also looking for a radiator in preparation - I posted to the Engine section for help but no one has replied.

No worries, glad that it helps, that's what we're all here for! I know that cars are & have been quite expensive in Aus & NZ with the high import duty etc. I guess this has a knock on effect on the price of parts too. I know a couple of people that emigrated and took out BMW's from here.

In the UK Eurocarparts is a good source of OEM and quality after market parts. Also try the MB dealers in the UK their prices aren't always scary. Also worth keeping a look out on Ebay for stuff too...

There was one of them on eBay last week.

IIRC they can be rather ££££
