E350 Estate Night Edition 2015
Hi there. I'm jumping back into into the MB fold after a fun couple of years in company dual motor Polestar 2. Have just bought a nice 2015 S212 E350 Night Edition with low miles and good service history but cheap chinese rubber that will be coming straight off (yes cheap tyres are a red flag but the rest of the history is ok.) It's on the staggered 18inch AMG alloys Default option for me would be Michelin Pilot Sports or Pirelli P Zeros, but just wondering what others are running on E Classes these days?

Michelin's are default of you can afford / justify them - tyre prices have gone north this year!

I'm on new Hankooks on the rear and inherited Bridgestones on the front (replacement before winter likely)

Ive recently moved from Eagle F1's/Dunlop Sportmaxx to the new Bridgestone Turanza 6. Very impressed so far. Mine's a wagon and not exactly a performance vehicle so this time i decided to go for more of a touring tyre than a summer performance tyre. Sure the Bridgestones don't perform quite as well on the limit in wet and dry (in tests, but still very good - Autobild ran a good test on them). But i have to say they are much quieter which was a key consideration for my longer trips. I figured i never push the limits of the tyres in wet or dry with this car so why get tyres that don't match what i actually need! I'd avoid the Dunlops in any case- i got a refund on two from cracking on the shoulder. Ive used them before with no issue so maybe just a bad batch.

Cheap Chinese rubber isn't necessarily a red flag when buying a used car from a dealer, especially if they are new, because dealers often fit cheap tyres to cars before putting them on sale, so that they pass the MOT.

Yep, that definitely makes sense. I will have a look at them, thank you

Fair point! They are still coming off though :)

Update: the car was delivered on Friday and a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 5’s went on yesterday. I’ve no idea if the Asda ditch-finders were as bad as the online reviews say, but I prefer not to find out. Thanks for all your help folks.

oh, and obligatory new car pic

I have just fitted goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 6 all round last week, it’s a bit early to comment on them but have seen nothing but good reports on them

I am sure you will very please with your new tyres.I gave up with Conti 5p and fitted Goodyear asymmetric 5 , excellent tyres.I understand that the 6 are in a different league to the 5.

Hankook are good all rounders.. had a new a class courtesy which had them.. nexen also decent mid range tyres..

I am very pleased with them, took them off for the winter so looking forward to putting them back on soon

Might look into those next time around, the Goodyears might prove a bit rich next time

Looking at a car that is low miles , full service history and in excellent overall condition. The only issues are the tyres , 2 Michelin Primacy 4 - 1 Pilot sport 4 and 1 Pirelli Cint 7. All are in date plus 4 mm of rubber.
Question is should I buy 2 Primacy 4 and put on back and the other Primacy 4 on the front or buy 1 pilot 4 and put both on rear and 2 Premacy on the front or just go ahead and buy 4 new tyres ?
I have been thinking about this problem for days.

I would buy 1 Pilot Sport 4 to put with the other one as they all have reasonable tread on them, that's the cheapest way to go for now it will give you time to decide what to replace them with when the time comes.

I appreciate your reply. I will let you know what happens.
