This fault occasionally comes up on my dashboard but the ABS and traction control seem to be working fine, anyone any idea what this could be?

I have a 52 plate C220 cdi.

Yes, no problems last time I tried.

This fault has been coming up intermittantly then resets when i turn off the ignition so ive ignored it.......

now its started coming up more frequently.

Ive also recently had new discs and pads all round (not that i think this is related).

I dont want to be dangerous but the brakes feel fine and stop very well.

I have this sometimes too, George Fraser suggested that it's probably a loose sensor. If the message vanishes after turning the engine off and on, don't worry about it - if they don't drive to see him :-)

Thanks guys, I will leave it, if it keeps coming on and annoying me I will take it in to the dealers and see how much they want to fleece me for!

I have a feeling it could be the brake switch. £7 from the dealers. 10 mins to fit yourself.

I've got this problem appearing on my CLK at the moment. I plan to get it resolved at the next service as hopefully its just that switch.

Slightly annoying to say the least.

Its worth changing this switch yourself. £7 in parts, easy to change.

If MB even look at it, its about 50 in labour

Changing the brake switch on mine cured the problem.

Will changing the switch work on a 1994 C180?

Is there a Break Switch howto around that would be relevant to a W210? I've looked around but must be missing it - if it's £7 I think I'll have a bash :)

I could pick up the switch from Greenoaks on the way home one day this week. Are there any guides online on how to fit this little badboy?

I could be doing one of these today if Gareth turns up. If so i will do a HowTo

I will have a go at the brake switch, again if anyone has the how to install notes then I would be grateful. Cheers J

See the link in the post above yours:D

Finally got round to buying a new brake switch but cant actually find where it is. Have had a good poke around under the footwell including taking off the plastic panel and foam but cant see where the switch is on my 52 plate. Have located somewhere where it looks like it should be but nothing is there. Does anyone have any photos or advice for me?

Mine does this from time to time + ive had a new brake switch.

So did my old w202 aswell - dodgy sensors methinks

Right, thats me upside down again tonight with my head in the footwell.

It must be tucked quite well away. If anyone has done this and has any tips on how to best do it then that would be great.

Cheers
J
