hi all again... i put the thread on last night bout the ovp relay...got up this mornin and it sounds like the battery is goin now!!!...this happened b4 but aa man tested it and said its workin 100%!! could this still be the ovp?...he also checked the alternator and that was fine too....any ideas? :(

You could probably do a visual inspection on the battery by removing the caps and checking the condition of the cells. If they are very dark in colour it could be a sign of a diminishing battery, also I think im right in saying, if you put some load on the battery, and there is a cell on the way out it should start to bubble up.

the aa man came out and said the problem "may" be the fact that i dont do loads of mileage!!! said that after starting...it doesnt really get enough time to charge back up, and hence over a time, gets a bit weak!!...he said it may be an idea to get a battery charger, for the odd occasions it may happen.....any comments on this?....hope his right....would be quite a cheap remedy!!!!!!

You need to do at least 10 miles to put the start charge back in a flat battery. Suggest that you give it a decent run at least once a week, say 50 miles to keep the battery charged properly and avoid the plates bucking, through being constantly flat. Alternative is to trickle charge it when not in use, and fully charge when flat only. ;)
