I had a Becket Map Pilot and had no issues updating the maps using Windows 10 PC.
You need to:
- Register your unit online
- Download and install the correct firmware update (there are a few versions)
- Download and install the correct PC manager software (again there's more than one version)
- Backup the unit using the PC software before proceeding
- Install the new maps update
Check also that:
- The internal battery is fine (not bulging or leaking)
- You are using the correct Mini-USB cable
- Try carrying-out a factory reset (theres a button on the device)
- Try using a different PC
With regards support, my understanding is that the company is no longer trading, though they do (somehow) still sell maps updates.
Hi Markjay,
I appreciate your comments, but trust me; I tried three different Windows 10 PC, all with the same result. What galls me, is the fact that they are still selling product WITHOUT any contact points, nor support. And that for a product that absolutely stinks. Call it what you will, I call it illegal, crooked and they should be shut down completely so as not to continually rip people off. You wrote "..they do (somehow) still sell maps updates"; I do wonder if it's really Becker, or someone purporting to be them? In any event, my comment is meant as a 'heads-up' in hope of saving someone else getting robbed.
