Becker Map pilot

I had a Becket Map Pilot and had no issues updating the maps using Windows 10 PC.

You need to:

- Register your unit online
- Download and install the correct firmware update (there are a few versions)
- Download and install the correct PC manager software (again there's more than one version)
- Backup the unit using the PC software before proceeding
- Install the new maps update

Check also that:
- The internal battery is fine (not bulging or leaking)
- You are using the correct Mini-USB cable
- Try carrying-out a factory reset (theres a button on the device)
- Try using a different PC

With regards support, my understanding is that the company is no longer trading, though they do (somehow) still sell maps updates.

Hi Markjay,

I appreciate your comments, but trust me; I tried three different Windows 10 PC, all with the same result. What galls me, is the fact that they are still selling product WITHOUT any contact points, nor support. And that for a product that absolutely stinks. Call it what you will, I call it illegal, crooked and they should be shut down completely so as not to continually rip people off. You wrote "..they do (somehow) still sell maps updates"; I do wonder if it's really Becker, or someone purporting to be them? In any event, my comment is meant as a 'heads-up' in hope of saving someone else getting robbed.

How long will a internal battery last I have a 2013 map pilot with original battery
Mine was still working fine when I sold my 2013 S204 earlier this year.

Thanks it's just that I'm having trouble updating I inserted a sd card with new maps put the module back in the car also pressed the reset button on the back and nothing just got the original maps also tried connecting to computer

The Map Pilot system is known for being not exactly user friendly in terms of updating ( although I did manage -eventually- to update mine using the Becker Content manager on my PC)

I just use any Micro USB cable with mine. No need for any special lead.
Interesting!

Was that for full connection/update to the Becker s/w on pc?

I def had to source standard oem red cable before mine would connect, presume some integral connection/supply check.

You Sir, are one for understatement. I’ve lost hours of my life to that clunky s/w !! 😖
