I see that Bernie Ecclestone has had the wheels stolen from his CLS55AMG.

It looks like the set of special wheel nut removers that sold on E-bay a few months ago went to a good home!

Regards,
John

There has to be a pit team joke in this somewhere :D

Maybe it was the mob that got put out of work by the scousers earlier in the year :D

Am I correct in thinking that the rear wheels are wider than the front ones? The thieves could only get the passenger side wheels (drivers side parked nearest the kerb) The vallance was damaged where the thieves jacked the vehicle up, so I should imagine the car will be returned to Mercedes-Benz and simply swapped for a new one with better locking wheel nuts?? :D

Meanwhile keep your eye open for a really 'hot' motor bike with some 'class' wheels???

I wonder how long it will be before the villians return to get the complete set. Ecclestone should be more security conscious and not park his car outside on the street. He must surely be some sort of target and the car is very vunerable.

John :)

The times had the car valued at £300,000 and said that each wheel would cost £5000 to replace.

£300,000 my a*se!

maybe they included the pedal extention and seat raising costs :D

I believe Minardi were looking for some wheels a while ago, or was it a tyre manufacturer, either way if it was them then they have half the problem solved

I wonder if the vehicle is actually owned by Mercedes-Benz? He certainly did not appear upset by the theft and the damage. With his money, I would have handed the CCTV footage over to a private investigator and instructed them to have words with the gentlemen that carried out the theft.

With what has been going on in Formula One these last few years I would expected Ecclestone to be driving a Ferrari.

two points :)

1) I am stunned that he can see over the dashboard to drive a CLS let alone a ferrari :D

2) There is a nice article in max power this month about "talking" to car thiefs :( doubt bernnie could be bothered to do bird for breaking the buggers legs

:D He could just about reach their legs. This is the second set (pair) he has had stolen. You certainly don't get rich by letting people 'walk' all over you and helping themselves to your property.

I totally agree though, there is no way he will be implicated. Sort of like buying 'air ambulances'  for mercenaries to deliver to an oil rich African dictatorship.

Careful :(

Just an observation but how come a man with his kind of money doesn't have offroad parking, no matter where he lives.

There is a spate of wheel thefts going on at the moment in posh areas of London. I saw an s-class the other day propped up on bricks!!! Best go check my locking wheel nuts!

These thieves have the Mercedes-Benz kit that will remove any of the standard Mercedes-Benz 'locking' wheel nuts. Weird though how they take just two odd size wheels. (one front, one back) Are the CLS AMG wheels the same size as any other model?

I reckon e-bay is still the favourite destination?

They just need to do the same to one other car and they have a full set. Any of the top range cars are common in those parts of London.

May be its Murray Systems........ They did say they could get all types of benz rims!!!! only joking guys.......
