Hi all ,

Need an SD card for a camera , where's the best ( cheapest  ) place to get one ...

Thanks all ..

Hi Howard,
Just a simple observation here,

I would much prefer a good quality fast SD card as opposed to a cheap unbranded large size.

If the SD card goes duff then the picture might go with it. I would personally go for the cheapest quality branded card and don't worry to much about the huge size. Two medium sized ones would me my option as opposed to oine biggy. ;)

Gotta say that after posting my first post , i just found that Crucial are selling a 1GB card for £4.10 delivered ....

I thought they were going to be really expensive ! :o

Crucial are a good make aren't they ?

Sounds a decent card with a brand reputation. :)

The first SD card I bought for my camera was £40 and that was only 64MB, I am sure this was only about 5 years ago. Now 1GB card for a fiver is easy to find.

Seems to be in keeping with the price reduction of all computing equipment - actually its best not to think about it cause everything I have bought can be sourced for at least half price now - Oh well!!!!

I always buy my cards from Mobymemory and usually buy Sony or San Disc - have literally just bought two new micro SD cards - 2 x 2gb with adapters for £25. Never had a problem with San Disk but this time have bought a normal one and a higher octane one :D Will be interesting to see if there is a noticable difference in performance.

7dayshop is the cheapest for memory I have found..... Also you can check on hotukdeals for special offers as well...

Thanks everyone !! :D

If you don't mind the standard Scandisk 1gb cards, Asda were selling 2 for £15 last week.

IMO for a few quid difference in price you might as well play safe and go for a top brand. If you're shooting video (the video capture on many still cameras is surprisingly good nowadays) a high-speed card is often essential. Like many here, I also use SanDisk Extreme III (SD in my compact, and CF in my DSLR). 7dayshop and Play.com are both excellent, some good sellers on Amazon too.
