Best wash mitt??

Markwibbs is correct here.
You should never put your lambswool wash mitt in the washing machine, never use a detergent or fabric softener as well.
I simply rinse very well in luke warm water after use, then give it a good shake, then hang on the line to semi dry.
Now i tend to keep mine semi damp in plastic zip lock bag, but it does them no harm to let them fully dry out.
I must wash around 8 of my customers cars per week, and i have had the same Easirider Wash mitt for over a year now without any signs of degradation.
I gave up buying other lambswool wash mitts as they were simply made up of small pieces of hide then sewn together as one.

That may be one of the mitts made from multiple pieces of hide - the thumbed ones tend to be made in China and not last as long as the squarer ones as recommended above as the stitching rots

But your technique is spot on - it always takes a bit longer but machine polishing takes even more...

Hi try a merino wool mitt very good prices start at around £15

Merino is a breed of sheep - blimey, we are getting specific here !!

Generally the light brown coloured mitts are oriental made, usually come with a thumb, the better ones are worth the few quid extra.

yes it is a breed of sheep but that's what they use for a pure
wool mitt not the other rubbish mitts on the market

OK, I have waited long enough for someone to take this seriously, and interject some hard scientific data into discussion, but it seems I might have to bare it myself.

Surely these are the best for the job at hand?!:

Only one Lambswool wash mitt for me and its from the " Easyrider Company".
Price £23 for 2, yes 2!!!
By far the best mitt out there, for size, quality, durability, life length, softness, ease of care, etc, etc.
Puts Megs mitt and all others to shame in my opinion.
The company make pure lambswool car rugs, and these are a bi product of that.
Follow the rules for looking after them and they will not rot or de-grade at all.
Warning - be prepared to be amazed at how soft they are when you open the package. You have been warned!!

Just received my order of these. Order was a bit slow then I received a very apologetic email from the vendor explaining why (I hadn't chased them at all) saying they would be sending me an extra one as a gesture of good will. Very impressed with the service, yet to try the mitt but they certainly look and feel good.

...and on that topic....what have you detailing types done to me??!! I've now bought mitts, new buckets with grit guards, assorted microfibre cloths, assorted chemical wonder products. Up until buying the new car recently, my cars have generally had a wash once a month whether they needed it or not...if they were lucky.

I had mine yesterday. Quality looks excellent. I've caught the detailing bug too!

I was into my detailing before I purchased my new car, but I was happy to use the products that I already had. However since I purchased it in Jan I've spent at least £200 on detailing products including a drying towel of all things, I've been happily using a chamois for years.

I'm now thinking about buying a DA Polisher. It's a very slippery slope.

I've had my Maguires mitt for years now and thought I'd buy a new one.
Read quite a few good things about GTechniq and decided to order one and I must say it's very good quality!
Looking forward to using it this weekend.
Cheers
Ben

This is my old trusty Maguires mitt now demoted to my wheel mitt.

Hmm didn't know that, have washed my £3 Tesco wash mitt three times now and dried it in tumble drier

It's been perfect and still like new :bannana:

So Tesco must make one of the best wash mitts ever :dk:

Every little helps :thumb:

My Maguires went in the wash every time I washed my car. Must be 5-6 year old and still like new just a bit yellow ish stained now.

The "Mohican" by Fecks Philosophy is the best I have found, paired with the Professor Plush drying towel they do and you will be hooked!

I also have a Professor plush drying towel and it's the best one on the market.
