Hi All

Some of you will know I have toyed with the idea of selling my beloved S211 Estate over the past few years, but I always seem to quickly talk myself out of the idea. The thing is I am just not getting to use it much now, whereas up until 3 years ago I used it daily and loved every minute of it. Work commitments and not wanting to use my car for work means I am covering very little mileage nowadays. When I do go out in it I love it all the more, and the knowing nods from other drivers makes me smile.

Some of you will know my car. I bought it with 38K miles on the clock over 8 years ago. It has now done just over 90K miles and I can honestly say it is a better car in every way than when I first bought it. It looks better, drives better, it's just better. I'm not saying it is the best estate out there, but I have never seen one that matches up to it. I have always cared for it, it has FSH, mostly with MB and more recently with trusted Indies (who imo are better than MB anyway).

It has been fairly mildly modified and every mod has been well considered. I haven't gone mad and never rushed into things as I wanted a car that is totally reliable. It was last on a dyno at an MBClub dyno day at MSL back in 2014. Result was 487bhp and 564lb/ft at the wheels, which equates to app 575-600bhp and 665-694lb/ft at the crank depending on the multiplications used. That was before the ported heads were fitted so I'm not sure what difference they will have made. It feels and sounds more than healthy though:) It has a good specification anyway, with factory tints, sunroof, ventilated seats, command etc. See my signature below for list of mods. There are more than that, but they are the main ones. It also had paint correction and was fully detailed in 2014 and then had a refresh detail in 2015 by Ed at Divine Detail (highly recommended btw)

I will get a proper ad together over next few days once I've remembered how to get bloody pictures to upload!:wallbash::wallbash: Currently I am just getting messages saying the file sizes are too large even though I have resized them. I'm useless at stuff like that. I would really want someone on here to have it. I couldn't cope with the thought of some idiot buying it and if one turns up I will just send them packing and won't sell it to them!

Cheers

Re pics, I post mine to FB then copy and Paste across

Cheers Gav - that may be best option. I'm a real technophobe and even though I have FB, I never go on there.

I sympathise with your reluctance to sell on your E55 Simon.
Indeed, the nicest wagon I've seen and a credit to you.
I doubt you'll have any problem selling it, the car sells itself when its in such good shape.
Hope to catch up with you at another MSL GTG sometime:thumb:

With these cars becoming so rare wouldn't it be worth keeping it? Especially if you have spent a lot of time and money on it. If you sell it what is it worth, £9k?

Gutted for you Simon but understand your reasons completely, especially as it's not getting used now. It's a waste of a decent car really, and I personally think it's THE best about. If I were in your position I'd probably be the same but you know my attention span anyway....

Good luck with it whatever you decide and, if you do move it on, somebody will be getting an awesome machine.

Hope to catch up with you at another MSL GTG sometime:thumb:

Careful what you wish for Roger, he was in a diseasel Transit the last time. :D :D :D

Hi Ricky - hope all is well mate. Of course I will stay in touch, I haven't seen you in a while now, but I've not had much time on my hands.
The thing with my car is that I have never contemplated selling it for anything as nothing really floats my boa, nott even newer amg's. There is just something special about a sorted 55K as you well know. I really can't believe I've actually got to the point of putting it up for sale. The ridiculous thing is that I need a bigger van so its replacement is going to be a bloody crew cab van of all things!! I just can't bear the thought of cramming my work crap and fishing gear in the back of the wagon. Look after yourself mate:thumb:

I know....... I can't go through and think about how much I've spent and how much time I've put into it. It takes me best part of 4-5 hours just to clean the bloody thing! They are going up in value too, so if I had any sense I would find somewhere to put it in storage. £9K buys a pretty average 55K saloon, from what I've seen. It doesn't get near to a half decent estate.

Dam..... timing n all :( Glwts :thumb:
I've hardly been on the forum and therefore hadn't even realised you'd finally found yourself a wagon Gav. Looks like you've been having fun!
I'm sure it will all be good in the end, good luck with it. They are indeed rare especially like yours in 7 seater form.

Welcome back Simon - hope all is well...

You know my thoughts but then my reasons were different to yours.

I don't regret selling mine at all - the only thing I ever miss is the sound sometimes and of course the looks but nothing else. I wouldn't want another one despite them being epic cars.

We all had a blast back in the days we did car stuff though... especially when I took a wrong turn off that roundabout!

I look back on them fondly though and always will.

I reckon you could probably get in there for £12k > £13k given it is a sorted mildly-modded estate that has been well cared for.

As stated, there aren't many around which will only go one way, and your one is mint.

Good luck with the sale if you do.

All good with me thanks John. Hope you are well mate
Yeah we all did have a few laughs especially on our Trax convoys.

You changed for a totally different sort of car, which I bet is great for relaxed cruising, still with plenty of grunt when required. I always said the only car I would change mine for would be a CL65, but of course it can't do what an estate can.

Even if my wagon goes, I will still stay on here, reading enviously about what I could have.

Good morning stranger!

Sad to hear you’re looking to get rid of your E55K, it really is a stunner, so I’m sure that if it’s priced to match market expectations it won’t hang around.

(And get some photos up, it’s been that long I’ve nearly forgotten how stunning your wheels are!)

Anyone on lookout for a ‘55 need look no further than yours Simon. It’s a beauty both aesthetically and mechanically.

It’s always a hard decision to sell a car, so can imagine that after 8 years it must be a massive decision.

A Forum car in the condition yours is in advertises itself.

Hope you are keeping well and may catch up at some point on one of the events / gatherings?

Jules

This particular E55 will have no trouble fetching £12k+. It's that good.

Yes, all good thanks.

As much as I do enjoy the CL in many ways, and you are right, it is as practical as a cat carrier in a Lion's enclosure!

And as you have a need for an estate, the CL would purely be your second and if you don't use the 55 now, you will be in the same boat but £15K or more down for the pleasure of looking at it!

Has anyone on here seen this car?
One owner car, but not as good spec as mine. Just gauging prices.

Looks very toppy to me when you have taken into account there was recently an absolute mint 55 plate one with circa 35/40k miles on for circa £16k (there’s a thread on here somewhere)
