Thinking of what to get next
Some of you may know that i'm in the process of giving the beast a stage 1 upgrade, ive been told that the new BIGGER supercharger pulley will singnificatly increase hp by 40/45bhp at the wheels and that the pulley is 7in in diameter as opposed to 5.96in stock. I had an ecu upgrade last week and r/rolled it both before and after, 477bhp before 502 after.

My Question is this, will installing a larger diameter pulley seriously stress the 5.5ltr unit or will it be fine, ive been re assured by the manufactorers that they have installed these units on hundreds of E55s especially in the states without any problems and i havealso done my own research on the yankie sites and they all agree thats its the best bang for buck mod you can do.

but ide like YOUR INPUT if i may,

A pulley mod should always produce results because it increases boost. I can't imagine it would cause any immediate issues to the engine itself, but it's not beyond the realms of imagination. I would imagine that things like bearings in the supercharger might be under the greatest stress with this type of upgrade, although one would hope there's a healthy safety margin in the design specification.

Whether it would or wouldn't cause any problems for either the engine or supercharger would probably be accademic in the event of a warranty claim, as the presence of the larger pulley would introduce an element of doubt. I take it you're still under warranty? How mod-friendly is your dealer!!??

yup, still under warranty and local dealer is quite mod friendly.
The guys in the states have no issues with the same make pulley for almost 3 yrs+ maybe its just me being a bit nervous i dont know.

The pulley in question is the crank pulley so it needs to be bigger to gear up the charger.

Make sure the pulley won't over-speed the supercharger or put it in an inefficient range before you install it.

That would make sense, however:

I would think it almost certainly will put it into an inefficient range. The gas temperature will rise significantly reducing efficieny and the supercharger efficiency will fall.

Really you need a bigger intercooler first to pack more air into the given space due to the density increasing.

cooling mod is also in the books.
