Evening all,

Would you recommend cleaning black alloy wheels with standard alloy wheel cleaners?

I’ve got some Williams racing wheel cleaner to use up.

Bilberry is a good non acidic cleaner.. to much choice these days. Just stay away from wonder wheels!

As above, plenty of choice now, no need to buy an acidic cleaner such is the performance of non-acidic products.

Bilt Hamber Autowheel and Dooka Bleed are good if you are looking for a fallout type product, Detailed Online Acid free cleaner for a general cleaner or Autosmart SmartWheels if you are looking for a bulk (5L) product.

It also depends of course on how often you plan on washing the car/wheels and how dirty they get between washes.

cheers,

Chris

I would recommend Bilt Hamber Auto Cleaner. Been using it for years!

Plus one for the above I usually order BH Korrosol as my missus wheels get very bad but I ordered BH Auto wheel cleaner by mistake a month ago and I'm very impressed (as I am with all the BH stuff) it does just as good a job.

Strange how nobody has answered the question and instead recommended their choice.

If it is acid free it will be fine (unless there are instructions to the contrary on the bottle). It is also used to decontaminated paint work. Might be worth testing an inconspicuous spot if you are not 100%.

We kind of did "Would you recommend cleaning black alloy wheels with standard alloy wheel cleaners?"

Then we recommended which ones we've tried that would be good. :D

I couldn't comment on Williams racing wheel cleaner as I've never used it but as you and other pointed about acid free cleaners I'm sure it will be fine.

I've used Auto Finness and HATED the trigger bottle was always broke on the first squeeze and once I found Bilt hamber there was no need to try anything else, on light brake dust and sealed wheels it doesn't really even need agitating with a brush spray on blast off.

i have black alloys and use turtle wax alloy wheel cleaner works perfect, i also took my time cleaned each thoroughly and then coated with meguiars hybrid ceramic wax wow just simple pressure washer and they come out clean also less dust sticks to them best 15 quid i spend

Thank you sir, I’ve gone with a ph neutral alloy wheel cleaner by Q detailing? Works a treat! Thanks for the feedback.

Nice tip I’ll give the ceramic wax a go as the dust is doing my OCD no good!
