I decided that I wanted to tone down the rear star badge on the boot/rear.

I took the badge off and coloured it with a black marker to see if I liked the look.
Is there a rear boot star made for the W202 that is either black or black chrome?
If not can anyone suggest somewhere in the UK that can black chrome a original rear star?
I searched on google and most of the people that do black chroming seem to be in the US.

A quick photo (sorry about my poor camera phone :o ) with the original badge coloured in with black marker.
I think it looks ok :D

Looks nice and i like it - The old Brabus W126, 124 & R129 etc. all used to have black colour coded star or Brabus badging on black cars or if a dark coloured car they would spray the badging/star in that colour. How about black spray paint? Would work out cheaper if you were to get a spray can and regularly respray it if the finish was to wear. A good bodyshop should be able to do it BUT I am sure it would be cheaper and easy for you to do a just as good job yourself with the right paint for chrome.

If you want a Professional Job done then call Brabus and they will probably send you a pre painted one to your colour.... ;)

an alloy wheel refurbisher would be able to powder coat it for you .....

There'd be less chance of it flaking then .....

Black badges work on all cars except for near-black colours, where it sucks. Black works fine though ;)

I recommend buying new ones while you're at it, the main star is about £5 from the parts dept :)

anyone have a part number for a w202 boot star, and can confirm if its slightly curved at the top or completely flat. Cheers!

It would look even better with faclift clusters :)

Not sure BUT face lift cars had a modified bootlid so that may be the case with the Star being slightly curved on either the face lift or pre face lift - on W126 the star is slightly curved as you describe

sooy I don't have a part number but as I can see on mine (it's a face lifted car), it's a bit curved.

I used to have a BMW 5 series Estate, or Tourer is BMW speak, and that had Black 'Chrome' on the tailpipe. Not sure what process they use to get it that colour
