Black Diamond discs and pads

I ran a pair of Black Diamond discs on a Ford Escort XR3i 22 years ago (!).

Didn't make any difference from standard really but they were fine.

Thanks John ,so many claims from companies out there that their brakes are superior to the original ones that the manufactures fit!!

Daft really only bigger brakes and different pad compounds increase braking .

The former is king as it's the law of physics .

Had some back in the 90's , OK discs but then most are .

Might give them a try just to compare.

Once invested in an AP racing 4 pot big brake conversion on my 2002 Mini Cooper S. The red powder coated calipers and huge discs looked awesome behind the 18" TSW Kyalami wheels, but in day to day road driving their performance was appalling, and borderline scary. I guess the set up was more catered to track use than my daily driving requirement.

I've used a Black Diamond disc with EBC Green Stuff pad set up on a Mondeo ST220 around 10 years ago. Was ok, but no obvious improvement on standard. Bought them for the black coating, but my local garage wire brushed all the black coating off before fitting them, they must have thought it was just a protective coating for transit?!?

^I had a set of Blue Stuff pads for the Nissan. - No good on the road because they're endurance pads and need some heat in them before they start to work.

I went back to Yellow Stuff and was happy with the performance; they work from cold and they survive spirited driving.

Yes I am being told that the Yellow stuff are probably the better ones to go for.

Tried to buy Akebonos but pain in behind trying to find where to buy. No answer to calls to their Euro Sales offices in France and Germany,,,So your fault I bought the Yellow Stuff! At 50% on Euro at mo couldn't resist..doing fronts with new Brembo drilled discs.

I have bought Black Diamond discs and pads which are getting fitted today .Will update on how they perform once they have bedded in.
