I'm replacing a brake line on my 1989 S-Class so need to know what size the bleed nipples(valves) on the callipers are so I can buy the correct size ring spanner.(none of mine fit!)

Is there a special brake bleeding spanner I can buy to fit the valves perfectly? If so what size?

Many thanks in advance:) And if anyone does have bleeding nipples, please see your local doctors surgery for help and advice!!

If it was me I would replace the nipples anyway as a matter of course. Don't rely on the new being the same as old.
Get plenty of plusgas around the nipples before you attempt it.

Stu , it is best to order new nipples from the dealer against your chassis no.

I have found in the past ( I think it was my 190 2.6 ) that the nipples on the front calipers were different from the ones on the back !

At least getting the new ones there , you'll know they are correct , and can then go into a tool shop with them and get a spanner to fit before starting .

If you're buying a spanner specifically for the job I'd look for a six sided one, rather than a twelve sided variety. The nipples can be hard to shift and a twelve sider can round it off. A six sider has more area on which to act.

I agree with Stratman.
Be very gentle with them if they've not been loosened for some time.
They can seize, and there is a real danger of shearing them off.
I've never done it on an MB, but I have done it on another vehicle.
