First day back in the office for me today, parked up at the train station. Nice big space. Left lots of room between myself and the next car. I was sat there paying for my parking on my phone when I heard/felt THUD. The woman parked next to me has opened her door and let the strong wind catch it straight into the side of mine.

I got out and she said sorry, dont worry theres no damage. Err excuse I think I will be the judge of that. Yep ding in my door. Can't see if theres any paint damage as it was to dark and wet.

She asked me what I wanted to do as it wasn't her fault it was the winds fault for blowing her door open. Really so I should just pay for the damage you have caused to my door myself? I dont think so.

As I was trying to get her details the train arrived so I wrote them down away from the car. Well she blatently gave me the wrong car reg and even told me it wasn;t her car.

Thankfully I mamanged to get in touch and someone went out and took a couple of pics of both her and my car so I have the reg.

Stupid woman she is on the same train as me every morning and I know what her normal car is. Does she not think I will see her.

I'm more p!ssed off with her its not my fault attutude why should I fix it.

Rant over.

Make sure you get it into MB for repair....:thumb: if she was nervous and blatantly lied about her details, I would anticipate a question mark over if she is insured or not...

I had the same thoughts David but checking on the askmid site the cars insured. I am hoping she is just ditzy and was flustered.

I will give her the benefit of the doubt until she doesn't reply to me confirming the details I have sent her and the pics of the cars parked.

The car park has CCTV which is working although due to DP i doubt I can get the footage but I am sure if it requires the police they will be able to.

The only marks on my car are "Car Park Dings" its so so annoying. Generally people just don't give a S__T!!!

Don't contact your own insurance, no need if its not your fault. The other party, or their insurance, should be paying! Might be worth trying one (or three) of those "claims management" companies, and they'll handle claiming off of her insurance, sorting you out a hire car while yours is repaired, and any other incidental expenses you might have.

If the paint isn't damaged then you could get one of the dent repairers out. They arrive with a bag of levers and push the dent out from the inside. That way you wont be left with poorly matched paint.

Tell me about it, mines only 9 months old and I only had it detailled a week ago so it was looking perfect (apart from dirving it 4 miles to the station thsi morning)

Thats not a bad idea.

Mercedes dealers use guys who come on site to do correction/dings on their stock.

Also, you can drink their coffee/wander round the cars while it's being done.

May be worth a go, as they should be pretty good to get the dealer business.

With regards to CCTV evidence, you can request it from the data controller (information should be available on CCTV warning signs) you will usually have to do this request in writing and there is usually a fee (we charge £10).

I think we've all been there;

Careless door to door damage in the car park, stray shopping trolleys, wheelie bins, hail, conkers, Bird strikes, things falling onto the car in the garage, Low speed collisions, Vandals, Fireworks or Golf balls

Paintless dent removal or “cold metal repair” to use it’s proper description, is the art of moving metal with specialist tools in such a discreet and gentle manner that the paintwork remains intact. Dents can be literally massaged from the panel, the result is a repair so flawless that no one would ever know you had a dent there. It's a permanant repair and a pure repair. No filler, no chance of mis matched paintwork and environmentally friendly :thumb:

it happened to me many years ago when I had the then brand new Volvo XC90, barely a week old!
Went to Ikea, parked next to a crappy escort, was about to get out and heard/felt a thud.
Walked round to the other side, and saw this couple had their rear door wide open, try putting in whatever they bought and it was touching my car.
Told them what they've just done, not only did I not get an apology(I would have let it go if they said sorry), they even said proof it, and walked straight back into Ikea.
To say i was furious was an understatement!!

From then on, I make sure I would never park my car next to any rusty old bucket!

Nor a SUV, nor a van, nor a pickup, nor a car with a baby sign, nor a badly parked (bent) car, nor a dirty (careless driver) car, nor near a shopping trolley park, nor the end bay near a turn, nor near the drop-off bays,...the list goes on.

Sounds like a nightmare but I park furthest away, always get a space immediately, and enjoy a walk looking at what else is in the car park. And my car remains perfect! Until one day someone breaks it for being parked so 'special'.

^^^^ all this is why i have only ever had one/two new or expensive cars.
The worry and stress about the bloody things is inproportional to the enjoyment of owning them (for me it was, anyway).

A few years ago when i had my CL500 i popped to the local s/market for a couple of items. I parked between a jag and a golf, newish cars. After 20mins shopping returned to find all 3 side panels deeply scratched to the metal:(, maybe a trolley swipe. Unfortunately they had no CCTV covering my car....nightmare!
I got the repair done privately...

My solution, i bought a 12 year old Volvo to do the shopping in:D:thumb:

I once had a brand new A4 convertible, parked at some of of town shopping place and came back to a deep scratch in the rear bumper.

Was ****** off for about a week but learned to just get used to it, maybe I'm not as precious as I should be!

My old dad used to say about cars 'don't worry about cars son you're not marrying them'

Never a truer word eh?

Always tell wife to park where few empty spaces, the amount of carelessness, rage appearing in supermarket car parks is growing trend

Which would be ok had my door not been scratched as well. Returned back tonight and managed to get a chance to look at it properly and it needs paint. :-(

But I have had a call from the ladies fella and he has said he will sort it.

A woman reversed into my Q7 front bumper with her towbar being the first point of contact, all this happening as I was walking towards the car.

I shouted 'watch out!' so the impact was relatively minimal but it was sufficient enough to hear a loud cracking noise.

She leaps out and says "I didn't touch it, honestly" (whenever anyone says honestly I become instantly suspicious) and when I said that I'd actually watched it happened, she got a bit upset so after inspecting the very minimal marking I just said it doesn't matter...
