Bloody annoying

She leaps out and says "I didn't touch it, honestly" (whenever anyone says honestly I become instantly suspicious)

I won't **** in your ***** - honestly.

Yes, we know why honestly makes us suspicious...

I'm always watching mine in car parks ..

Everytime I've been out shopping in mine , I park either miles away from the store & ideally where there's 2-3 spaces beside me.
Pee's me right off when I come back & they park right next to mine when there's plenty of spaces beside.

On New Year's Eve was walking back to my car & from a distant spotted a couple who must of just parked next to mine ..peering through my drivers car windows & acting somewhat suspicious.... Speeding up my pace dreading the worst ( windy day ) , they started to walk away from my car towards the store .

I Got right to my car to give it a once over before I lost sight of them & thank god all was fine ..I guess they were just admiring the Phat new AMG :bannana:

Did Get me heart racing with anger tho ..Lucky them!

That sort of attitude and lack of respect really cheeses me off when you work hard for nice things - I feel your pain, I like my motors to look absolutely prestine and this sort of thing winds me up a treat.

And I'm the same whether it's a new car or 10 year old - I like to look after my cars. So suggesting driving a second banger to the shops is no solution for me.

Part of the problem is that cars have got wider but parking spaces haven't adjusted to fit modern cars, it's a case of pack them in as close as possible to maximise the number of spaces and profitability.

I think the reverse trend is happening in the good ole US of A, where the car park spaces getting bigger as their daily runabout getting smaller ;)

I was in Florida a few years ago, went to one of the malls, the parking spaces were huge, even though I was driving a Grand Cherokee at the time.

I think Americans generally need and are used to more space. I recall driving past a pedestrian crossing a car park in DC and I got the most insane look because I got within three car lengths of her. Also, visit Costco in UK and note how big the spaces are there.

There is also an "attitude/state of mind" at play here. Many people now see the guilty party as the Car Park and not them. You often here people comment on the "stupid" spaces or look how that "idiot" has parked. If they give you a ding it's not their fault (in their mind)

Most Car Parks now do appear to have unrealistically narrow spaces. This means you only need one car to park poorly (not centrally in a bay) and the domino effect kicks in. You then have to decide what is more important? getting parked or risking a ding.

In the OP's case it looks like the wind had a hand in it so that would have been the wind's fault (in this lady's mind).

Good news that you are getting it sorted.

Costco is the only place that has not only decent size spaces bit a large door opening area between each space.

I almost go there just for the peace of mind when parking.

I parked my M3 ( E46 ) at a B+Q type place and while sitting in the car a couple let go there trolley that then rolled in to my rear quarter, CLUNK...

I get out and sure enough Mr Man walks over, NOT to ask if there was any damage but to get his stuff off his trolley still resting against the side of the M3 ( my first one) and wandered back to his car, not a word of sorry...

he was sorry when he came back from his second trip into the shop to find someone had kicked in his rear lights...but then I was young ( not that I know who did it of course)

Unfortunately that attitude is the only good way to tell these people.

First day back in the office for me today, parked up at the train station. Nice big space. Left lots of room between myself and the next car. I was sat there paying for my parking on my phone when I heard/felt THUD. The woman parked next to me has opened her door and let the strong wind catch it straight into the side of mine.

I got out and she said sorry, dont worry theres no damage. Err excuse I think I will be the judge of that. Yep ding in my door. Can't see if theres any paint damage as it was to dark and wet.

She asked me what I wanted to do as it wasn't her fault it was the winds fault for blowing her door open. Really so I should just pay for the damage you have caused to my door myself? I dont think so.

As I was trying to get her details the train arrived so I wrote them down away from the car. Well she blatently gave me the wrong car reg and even told me it wasn;t her car.

Thankfully I mamanged to get in touch and someone went out and took a couple of pics of both her and my car so I have the reg.

Stupid woman she is on the same train as me every morning and I know what her normal car is. Does she not think I will see her.

I'm more p!ssed off with her its not my fault attutude why should I fix it.

Rant over.

Sounds annoying mate, but if the paints not damaged, I would as Chris said get a dent removal guy out, once they are done should be good as new, you would be surprised how many dents these guys do on new just delivered cars... Just make sure they don't start drilling any holes to get to that dent!

I think we've all been there;

Careless door to door damage in the car park, stray shopping trolleys, wheelie bins, hail, conkers, Bird strikes, things falling onto the car in the garage, Low speed collisions, Vandals, Fireworks or Golf balls

Paintless dent removal or “cold metal repair” to use it’s proper description, is the art of moving metal with specialist tools in such a discreet and gentle manner that the paintwork remains intact. Dents can be literally massaged from the panel, the result is a repair so flawless that no one would ever know you had a dent there. It's a permanant repair and a pure repair. No filler, no chance of mis matched paintwork and environmentally friendly :thumb:

This guy covers your area of Southampton :bannana:

Andy Jewell Paintless Dent Removal offers repair services at affordable cost

I used Andy 3-4 years ago on a dent on the passenger front door of my AMG, excellent job done, thoroughly recommend him.

Which would be ok had my door not been scratched as well. Returned back tonight and managed to get a chance to look at it properly and it needs paint. :-(

But I have had a call from the ladies fella and he has said he will sort it.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

Had exactly the same thing happen on my former S Class in a Tesco car park except no wind was involved. I went directly down the legal route and went far as a small claims court and only then the third party's insurer fully paid out. I did not involve my insurance company at all. I was lucky as did not need a paint job.

From experience with body shops and paint jobs its always difficult to match and blend the paint in if you have an eye to detail and want the car looking perfect hence when the wing and front door needed painting on one of my cars I simply had the whole off side resprayed and the body shop did a damn good job and had taken their time doing it and perfecting it. They had attempted to at first paint the front wing and driver’s door but it was not perfect for my satisfaction as i am into my detailing (using clay bar and high quality waxes) hence I paid the difference to get the whole side of the car painted.

Unfortunately the pains been damaged, gone right through so its paint as well as the dent.

Its booked in for repair on Friday as long as I can work from home.

I'm off to a paul walker fund raiser/tribute at santa pod Saturday and whilst I know its not major I can see it on my door and it is annoying the cr4p out of me so would really like it fixed before I go.

Hate to rain on your parade

With regards to CCTV evidence, you can request it from the data controller (information should be available on CCTV warning signs) you will usually have to do this request in writing and there is usually a fee (we charge £10).

I hate to rain on your parade Unfortunately Jay is referring to a document known as a Subject Access Request (SAR) and you cannot obtain information on another person, only yourself. A further point to consider is was the camera facing in the direction of your car at the time, was it captured ?

Being the manager of the CCTV control room in Plymouth release of such information is my daily job, sorry but DP doesn't allow release of footage of another person's actions :wallbash:

write to me at [email protected] if you need anymore info on SAR :(

Thanks Dave, I am doing some consultancy for the DfT and have a fair understanding of the DPA. Personally my life would be a lot easier without it. Trying to get feeds from ANPR camera's is a complete ball ache.

But I did confirm with the BTP that the CCTV works in the car park, there are cameras all over and there is a camera at the correct angle that would have captured the incident.

But fortunately the ladies man has agreed to pay so no need to take that root :-)

Cars booked in to be fixed Friday. I know its only minor damage but I know its there and it really annoying me.
