Hi guys,

I myself am a member of a few car forums (predominantly Audio and BMW ones..) As I drive a BMW E46.

However my dad has always had mercs and just bought an S class to replace his E Class.

It is a 2007 S Class which is pretty bog standard. Nothing really special on it.

The factory command system is good, but when trying to pair my dads iphone do it, its having none of it. The system reads it but it won't connect?

I can get pictures of the adapter in the central armrest if that helps?

Are we doing something wrong? Or do we need to buy new modules or adapters? Could someone shed some light on this? I'm a little clueless when it comes to Mercedes so when searching I found lots of threads on a similar subject but don't know if the command system is different between cars and don't know how to tell them apart. So sorry for asking this question again.

Just found another thread confirming the use of the Viseeo MB-4 as the product I need to make it work. :)

So whats the different between the MB2 and the MB4? To me it looks like the MB2 does everything my dad needs for a lot less money?

So onto the Subwoofer

Another thing my dad wanted was to fit a small 10" subwoofer in the boot. I was going to do a stealthy sub box in one of the left or right hand sides to make it look ad factory as possible using a fibreglass box I can make myself. However, are there any issues I should consider when wiring it all up? I was just going to use a LOC on the rear deck speakers to an amp under the floor?

Thanks again guys.

a) MB2 discontinued about 3 years ago
b) Use a free-2-air subwoofer bolted to rear parcel shelf in no box. You should LOC the front speakers not the rears or easier use an amp that has speaker level inputs and combines them for you. This is because its the front speakers you are listening too. I am assuming your car doesn't have HK sound system and thus I'm not sure there are even rear deck speakers. We have a preferred 8" subwoofer for this job. Certainly don't go bigger than 10 as front doors are 6.5" and we find it becomes unbalanced.

existing (small) Amp is in boot on left, so easy to connect to (i.e no need to run wires to front doors)

Cheers

Thanks Richard. I see there are still a few MB2's on ebay for reasonable money. Is it still advisable to go for the newer MB4's or is the MB2 good enough?

Nope, no HK. And I didn't know about the factory amp. In theory this should mean that wiring should be fairly simple and all within the boot! The amp I plan to use had both speaker level inputs and low level inputs. So I could just wire it directly to the amp I suppose. What would you suggest I do for the remote cable?

I have a 10" Hertz ES sub left over from my previous install which I was going to use. Obviously, in a sealed enclosure. I have no plans to take the sound system further in this as its only for my dad lol.

My car is different! I have 2 way front stage, which is soon to be run active with a single sub in the back. Mine is all aftermarket, so I understand it better. But I suppose this isn't the kind of thing which is appreciated on here? As its also in a BMW lol

The "amp" in the boot is also the radio tuner. It has the power output for the antenna amps on it, so good for the amp, and some amps sense speaker level inputs. There is no high power stuff in the head unit, i.e its a head-unit like small amp but its in the boot connected to front (and other audio components) with fibre optics.

The MB2 you would be buying are very old and I believe unsupported by the manufacturer as well out of warranty. No software is being developed/maintained for the MB2 - last release was years ago.

You have to build an enclosure if not using a free-2-air sub or it will travel too far to easily - so you can save some time if you use a free-2-air sub :-)

Awesome. Thank you very much for your help Richard. I will most likely show my progress on here.

Ah, so the MB4 would be the better full stop.

I want to practice making a fibreglass box anyway, and as its only dads car I will be utilising parts I have left over rather than new parts lol
