:(

Got the CLK washed today and noticed deep gouges on both sides of the bonnet next to the wings and also scratches on the bonnet near the washer nozzles.

its like someone has gone mental with a pin or something.

Is it advisable to T-cut a 2003 CLK?

Or is it going to mean getting the whole bonnet resprayed?

:(

tia,

depends how deep the scrtches are, you can use metallic t-cut (try a small area first) then a good quality polish afterwards.

I read a useful rule of the thumb on here a while back: If you rub the end of your finger nail across the scratch, and it catches, then it won't polish out.

If the scratches are surface scratches ONLY then you can use a rubbing compund to get rid of them. I was a bit weary on using it at first but was amazed at the end result, ofourse after doing this ull need to use a powerfull polish i recomend AutoGlym Super Resin Polish realy gives that amazing gloss shine!!

I'd take it down to your local valeters or paint shop and ask them to machine polish it. Those guys use mops all day and are experts. It'll either come out in 2 minutes or need repainting

If the scratches are fairly deep, they may be down to primer, if not they will probably polish out with compound, BUT you will also cut off the lacquer, as the finish is 2 pack paint.
The only real way is to get a paint shop to knife stopper the scratches, localised spraying and lacquer then polish.
T-cutting is for removing traffic film and substances on top of paintwork, all that will do is turn gouges into valleys, probably worse on the eye, especially when the sun shines!;)
