W204 Saloon. When I pull the red bonnet release lever the bonnet lifts slightly.
It doesn't raise the full way, but you can squeeze your hand in and reach the latch under the bonnet but when you pull it and try to lift the bonnet it seems stuck on the passengers side somewhere.
I wasn't sure if it was stuck to the grille somehow or if maybe there's a second latch that isn't opening.

Any ideas? It's a Sunday and Bank holiday Monday so I can't get it to a garage and I'm taking it to MSL Thursday for suspension and exhaust work so need it to be working 100% for them to do their magic.

Can't seem to edit OP but I can't get to a garage really on Tuesday as I'm at work so any help would really be appreciated as it's got to be at MSL Thursday.

Mine did this once.

So, I popped the bonnet ( it half opened). Then took it for a dive and hit some speed humps with force.

It soon popped open lol

Not technical. But it worked.

Once opened check the release. And plaster it it lithium grease.

Was it a W204? How hard did you hit the speed bumps like 30mph, the big ones?

I tried getting someone to pull on the red lever and bounce the bonnet up and down with no luck.

No it was a w211.

Is the catch popping when operated??

When you pull the red lever in the driver's footwell the driver's side of the bonnet lifts slightly, but passenger's side doesn't move. If you squeeze your hand in and pull the catch up under the bonnet the driver's side of the bonnet lifts easily but the passenger's side seems stuck, as if there's a second catch on that side jammed, or it's caught on something.

There are two catches and the cable splits, so it's possible one cable has come adrift.

You might be able to operate the catch using a long screwdriver poked through by the top corner of the grille.

Unfortunately the way that it's not opened fully you can have to really pry at it to get your hand in there, I'll give it a go tonight with a torch and a friend and see if we can see the catch. Thanks.

The catch is just behind the point where the headlamp and upper corner of the grille meet.
