I finished work after a 12hr night shift opened my boot to put my work bag in then tried to shut it.The boot jus kept bouncing back open.It was a very wet and windy morning in wigan(as usual),so i needed my boot shut(and to make it worse i was going on my holiday in couple of hours!
I flicked the boot look with a screw driver and gave it a spray of wd40 and it shut. When i got home it would not open,so i locked it in the garage and got a taxi to the airport.
When i came home i could not get into my boot with the emergency key.So i had to remove the back shelf speaker then disco net a small spring(with long nose pliers)then i could get the back seat to fold down and i was in the boot.
I had to cut some of the boot lid liner to game access to the locking mechanism(all while lying on my stomach in the boot).I tried to pull the release cable but the lock was jammed solid.I Basically drilled and took the lock to bits.
Even with the lock broken, if i pressed boot open it would operate the solenoid but not the lock.
I got a replacement lock from a breaker and fitted. Now the lock will open with the emergency key but the solenoid
no longer operates. It is a 2002 w209 clk320 has anybody any hint on what could be wrong. As i have already spent 3 days stuck in the boot, and my temper is vastly running out(very close to doing a basil Faulty on it)

Maybe the solenoid in the replacement lock is faulty or not connected to its wiring loom?
