Hi, Have a W208 Mercedes CLK and out of the blue the boot release has stopped working.
It doesn't open from the remote, doesn't unlock with the rest of the central locking and won't open from the centre console mounted switch.....
Is this likely to be an electrical fault or a known common problem?
Have checked the fuse box in the engine bay and the fuse is fine, however it says there are corresponding fuses in the boot??

Any advice would be most welcome,

Many thanks in advance,

Rich.

Hi have you checked all connections? I had similar problem and the wire on the boot look had broken

Thanks AMG I'll try and get the boot open and check connections...
Don't think boot lock has ever been used and so having trouble using the key.

i know its been a while since i made this origional post, but this is the first time i have visited the site in ages..... Just incase anyone finds this thread, whilst doing a search for a similat problem.

It turns out that as the bootlid was closed the 'pin' that switches on the boot light, was dislodged slightly and didnt go all the way in. Opened the boot (by removing the lock) popped it back in, and its been fine ever since.
I think i might have not quite mounted the pin properly when i changed a number plate light?

How did you remove the lock?, did you manage to open the boot first

It was a real pain to get into the boot, Had to remove the 1st aid kit, then i was just able to release one side of the split fold rear seats..... then just removed the n-shaped hook that the boot latch catches on with a 10mm (if i remember right) long socket, and the boot opened. Then i pressed the 'pin' back in, hit the boot release button on the keyfob and that released the n-shaped hook (for want of a better word).

:bannana:Richard300, many thanks! Just had the same problem. Luckly mines a cabriolet so was only a matter of opening the hood a bit to get the hood cover up, lean in the boot, undo the latch and hey presto!! All sorted just as you said. Once again thanks. Lockking
