R230 SL 500
The boot on my 2007, r230 500 is very heavy, I think both struts are gone. Should I buy Mercedes or are their better ones. Either way any idea of the part name or number.
Thanks
Mac

I fitted some SGS ones to the CLK a few years ago . All still working well

I've just successfully replaced the two tailgate struts on the W211 E280 cdi Sports Estate.
I obtained the replacement struts from Autodoc.
A bit of a risk, but they supplied the correct ones, which were exactly the same as the original equipment.

A job that looks like an absolute nightmare given they run inside the car! How long did it take?

I have used SGS (British made) for my Suzuki and they are fine, though the Stabilus ones (OE on many cars) are better built - and cost much more.

The job was an absolute pig to do.
Plenty of bad language ...
See my write-up thread:

The first side took about three hours, while I was finding my way round it.
The second side took about an hour [when I'd learned the tricks :) ]
The tailgate lift is so-much better !
