If I need a part which has a Bosch part number is it possible to get it from a Bosch seller (a lot cheaper) rather than from Mercedes? I'm thinking of specialist parts rather than those you would find listed on the ECP website for example. If so, who should I try?

I could give that a go but they are garages rather than suppliers. What prompted this (apart from needing some parts) was that I seem to remember a friend needing a part for his Corvette a while back and managing to get hold of the Bosch part for a fraction of the price from Corvette for the same thing. I just wondered if anyone knew if this was the norm and if you can order such items from factors (and if so, which ones) even if they are Mercedes specific parts. And before you ask, I have tried to get hold of him to ask but can't at the moment.

As it happens I managed to get hold of the main part that prompted my question which was a wing mirror motor (second hand). I still need a couple of headlamp wiper blades for a 1998 R129 SL60 AMG though. I'm not sure if they are Bosch but will see if those on the car have a part number stamped.
It depends which parts. Some Bosch parts are "Reserved" for Mercedes - they cannot be obtained by the public.

yep, i done the same with my bosch ignition leads, under half price of the stealers
