Very nice and, very unusually, right hand drive...except the early headlights that I could never get my head around!...Thought someone might be interested....

That has been on there for nearly 10 years and posted on here more times than I can remember, it was £79,999 for most of that time.

that long sitting around wont have done it any favours.

Here you go, from 2013 and it had been on sale for 3 years at that point :D

Wow.....that's a long time........think Id rather have this for half the cash and very similar performance (and no ugly lights!!!!).

I has been used..... MOT only expired in December and it has done about 1000 miles since the last test two years earlier.

500 miles a year (likely on cold start thrashing sessions for potental buyers making up those miles) isnt at all ideal.

Unfortunately the very very limited number of people who would buy it have been put off buying it because of who’s selling it. Someone who kicks himself regularly for missing out on it at Greenoaks has tortured himself watching this car for sale for 13 years. He may be hatching a plan. He needs to get on with it.

If I remember right it has done around 10,000 miles since Keighey have had it, so it is being used. They also added the red badges. Strangely it has had several generic plate changes.

Leave it another 10 years and it will be possibly the best condition W219 out there and will 'Rocket' in value :D - See what I did there? :)

Unless there is somthing majorly up with it?

Go do a deal mate!

Surely some of their stock must be ok (he asks naively)? Hatch your plan on the basis that as soon as you've bought it and driven it out of the former multi storey car park that is their showroom, you will be on your own, legislation notwithstanding. Oh and I'd be tempted to take a couple of "handy" mates with you. :D

Apart from the vendor, you mean?

Despite the advert stating that it‘s a Brabus 700, i don’t believe it is based upon the photos. The badges look like eBay counterfeit badges, and there’s no photos of the engine compartment. Had the bonnet ever been lifted by the vendor then they would have made sure that the advert included photos of what’s under there.

I'd say you're spot on, given the way Brabus seem to slap a Brabus logo or badge on every available flat surface. The lack of Brabus boot badging rather gives the game away, and the brake calipers are repainted standard items, too.

To my mind, the giveaway of it being a fake is that the DVLA record lists it as 5462cc and 275g/km CO2. Those are the figures of an M273 5.5 V8, so the car presumably started life as a CLS500.

Edit: oh, on second thoughts though... maybe all Brabus cars start out as factory standard and only get modified after sale?? 🤷‍♂️

Which one are you referring to?

The white (later) car is likely a fake. If it’s real then it’s most likely to have been converted by a third-party rather than Brabus themselves. The 700 conversion is largely a piggy back ECU, upgraded turbos and upgraded catalysts. It’s a proper piece of kit. The 700 conversion is rare on other AMG models too, but I can’t remember ever coming across a CLS 700.

The black earlier car is a real Brabus Rocket, which is completely different kettle of fish - and is the top of the line conversion, done at their factory in Bottrop. A big part of the conversion is fitting the modified V12 engine, and so the donor car can be ordered with any engine. Brakes, suspension, wheels, and interior are all upgraded, albeit all done subtly at that time. That is a a couple leagues above a 700.
